.: We investigated whether increased contractile responsiveness to epidermal growth factor (EGF) is associated with altered activation of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) in the aortic smooth muscle of deoxycorticosterone acetate (DOCA)-salt ...

MAP3K1: A Multifunctional Kinase at the Crossroads of Cancer Progression and Tumor Suppression
Mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase kinase 1 (MAP3K1) possesses dual enzymatic functions, i.e., kinase and E3 ubiquitin ligase activities, orchestrating proliferation, survival, apoptosis, DNA damage response, and immune modulation.

microRNA 21 (miR-21) has been demonstrated to be significantly elevated in many types of cancers, including the hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). In the present study, we investigated the role of miR-21 in HCC by identifying its novel targets, as well as ...

CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Phosphatidylinositide‐3‐OH‐kinase (PI 3‐kinase) is an upstream activator of p42/p44 mitogen‐activated protein kinase (MAPK), but the role of PI 3‐kinase‐dependent MAPK remains obscure. Here we demonstrate that in a variety of different cell types, PI 3‐kinase inhibition results in an inhibition of MAPK in unstimulated cells but does not interfere with ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...
