Integration of a Phosphatase Cascade with the MAP Kinase Pathway provides for a Novel Signal Processing Function [PDF]
We mathematically modeled the receptor-activated MAP kinase signaling by incorporating the regulation through cellular phosphatases. Activation induced the alignment of a phosphatase cascade in parallel with the MAP kinase pathway.

MAP3K1: A Multifunctional Kinase at the Crossroads of Cancer Progression and Tumor Suppression
Mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase kinase 1 (MAP3K1) possesses dual enzymatic functions, i.e., kinase and E3 ubiquitin ligase activities, orchestrating proliferation, survival, apoptosis, DNA damage response, and immune modulation.

ABSTRACT Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are rare, high‐flow, vascular anomalies that can occur either sporadically or as part of a genetic syndrome. AVMs can progress with serious morbidity and even mortality if left unchecked. Sirolimus is an mTOR inhibitor that is effective in low‐flow vascular malformations; however, its role in AVMs is unclear.

Global analysis of serine/threonine and tyrosine protein phosphatase catalytic subunit genes in Neurospora crassa reveals interplay between phosphatases and the p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase. [PDF]
Protein phosphatases are integral components of the cellular signaling machinery in eukaryotes, regulating diverse aspects of growth and development. The genome of the filamentous fungus and model organism Neurospora crassa encodes catalytic subunits for

ABSTRACT Background Kaposiform lymphangiomatosis (KLA) is an aggressive complex lymphatic anomaly. Patients exhibit malformed lymphatic vessels and often develop hemorrhagic effusions and elevated angiopoietin‐2 (Ang‐2) levels. A somatic NRAS p.Q61R (NRASQ61R) mutation has been associated with KLA.

Beyond antioxidants: the cellular and molecular interactions of flavonoids and how these underpin their actions on the brain [PDF]
The consumption of flavonoid-rich foods and beverages has been suggested to limit the neurodegeneration associated with a variety of neurological disorders and to prevent or reverse normal or abnormal deteriorations in cognitive performance.

3′,5′‐Cyclic Guanosine Monophosphate Activates Mitogen‐Activated Protein Kinase in Rat Pinealocytes [PDF]
Abstract : The role of 3′,5′‐cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) in the activation of mitogen‐activated protein kinases (MAPKs) was investigated in rat pinealocytes. Treatment with dibutyryl cGMP (DBcGMP) dosedependently increased the phosphorylation of both p44 and p42 isoforms of MAPK.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.
