Efficient atomic self-interaction correction scheme for non-equilibrium quantum transport
Density functional theory calculations of electronic transport based on local exchange and correlation functionals contain self-interaction errors. These originate from the interaction of an electron with the potential generated by itself and may be ...

Electron-Phonon interaction and electronic decoherence in molecular conductors [PDF]
We perform a brief but critical review of the Landauer picture of transport that clarifies how decoherence appears in this approach. On this basis, we present different models that allow the study of the coherent and decoherent effects of the interaction

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Nuclear spin--rotation interaction in the hydrogen molecular ion
The nuclear spin--rotation interaction in the hyperfine structure of the hydrogen molecular ion is investigated. The interaction constants are determined and are found to differ in sign and magnitude compared to another theory, but they are in agreement ...

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Plasmid-like dynamics of persistent RNA viruses in the host fungal population
Unlike the well-known acute or chronic animal and plant RNA viruses, most fungal RNA viruses (RNA mycoviruses) have a persistent life cycle. They lack an extracellular infection route and coexist with their hosts for a lifetime.

Insights into T cell recognition of antigen: Significance of two-dimensional kinetic parameters
The kinetic parameters governing T cell activation have been intensely studied for over a decade. However, the details of how the various aspects of receptor:ligand interactions culminate in T cell activation remains shrouded in mystery.
