Enteric glia as a player of gut-brain interactions during Parkinson’s disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2023
The enteric glia has been shown as a potential component of neuroimmune interactions that signal in the gut-brain axis during Parkinson’s disease (PD).

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Thermodynamics of dissolution and infrared-spectroscopy of solid dispersions of phenacetin

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Pharmaceutical Technology & Research, 2016
In this work enthalpies of dissolution in water of polyethylene glycols (PEGs) having an average molecular weight of 1000 and 1400, Pluronic-F127, phenacetin as well as the composites prepared from them were measured using solution calorimetry at 298.15 ...

Gamma-Ray Emission from Supernova Remnant Interaction with Molecular Clumps

open access: yes, 2014
Observations of the middle-aged supernova remnants IC 443, W28 and W51C indicate that the brightnesses at GeV and TeV energies are correlated with each other and with regions of molecular clump interaction, but not with the radio synchrotron brightness ...

Interaction Between Supernova Remnant G22.7-0.2 And The Ambient Molecular Clouds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We have carried out 12CO (J=1-0 and 2-1), 13CO (J=1-0), and C18O (J=1-0) observations in the direction of the supernova remnant (SNR) G22.7-0.2. A filamentary molecular gas structure, which is likely part of a larger molecular complex with VLSR~75-79 km ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Bacterial exopolysaccharides mediate activation of flavin-containing monooxygenase 2 to extend lifespan in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesCell Communication and Signaling
The gut microbiota plays a pivotal role in modulating host physiology and longevity through the production of microbial-derived molecules. Among these, bacterial exopolysaccharides (EPS) represent a structurally diverse group of surface polysaccharides ...

Quantum Computation with Diatomic Bits in Optical Lattices

open access: yes, 2005
We propose a scheme for scalable and universal quantum computation using diatomic bits with conditional dipole-dipole interaction, trapped within an optical lattice.
