Human Bone Marrow Is Comprised of Adipocytes with Specific Lipid Metabolism

open access: yesCell Reports, 2020
Summary: Under caloric restriction, bone marrow adipocytes (BM-Ads) do not decrease in size compared to white adipocytes, suggesting they harbor unique metabolic properties.

Fasting and Refeeding Mediated Phospholipid Remodeling Plays an Important Role in Improving Meat Quality of Aged Laying Hens

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study explored fasting‐induced physiological remodeling effects on meat quality in aged laying hens. Fasting for 15 days (F15) significantly reduced abdominal fat, intermuscular fat width, subcutaneous fat thickness, and liver index versus pre‐fasting (F0) (p < 0.05), which recovered post‐refeeding.

Hepatic monoacylglycerol acyltransferase: ontogeny and characterization of an activity associated with the chick embryo.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1989
Hepatic monoacylglycerol acyltransferase is expressed during the perinatal period in rats and guinea pigs and appears to be related temporally to the availability of fatty acids and to the development of hepatic steatosis.

Of Mice and MAGL (Monoacylglycerol Lipase)

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, 2011
About 18.8 million American adults suffer depressive disorders that may occur with anxiety and substance abuse. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), a compound in marijuana, is a cannabinoid chemical that binds to and activates cannabinoid receptors (CB1) in the pre‐synaptic cell membrane as part of neuron‐to‐neuron transmission in the ...

Study on the Determination of Total Monoacylglycerol

open access: yesJournal of Japan Oil Chemists' Society, 1981
For the purpose of establishing a standard method for the determination of total monoacylglycerol (MG), a collaborative study team has carried out analyses of specified samples by three methods ; Method I, II and III. In the Method I, perchloric acid was added simultaneously with periodic acid to a chloroform solution of a sample and then total MG was ...

Functionally complementary bacterial inoculant coordinates arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi to improve Angelica sinensis root yield and quality

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
Comprehensive understanding of how diverse PGPR strains enhance the rhizosphere microenvironment remains a considerable challenge. Here, we provide experimental evidence that a functionally synergistic composite microbial formulation can markedly enhance growth performance and improve the quality attributes in Angelica sinensis.

Inhibition of monoacylglycerol lipase reduces nicotine withdrawal [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, 2015
Background and PurposeAbrupt discontinuation of nicotine, the main psychoactive component in tobacco, induces a withdrawal syndrome in nicotine‐dependent animals, consisting of somatic and affective signs, avoidance of which contributes to drug maintenance.

Perinatal hepatocyte/hepatoma hybrids: construction of clones that express the developmentally regulated monoacyglycerol acyltransferase activity.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1990
Microsomal monoacyglycerol acyltransferase is a developmentally expressed enzyme that catalyzes the synthesis of sn-1,2-diacylglycerol from sn-2-monoacylglycerol and palmitoyl-CoA.

Biomarkers of Leucine‐Rich Repeat Kinase 2 (LRRK2) and Lysosomal Dysfunction in Progressive Supranuclear Palsy

open access: yesMovement Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Common and rare genetic variants in leucine‐rich repeat kinase 2 (LRRK2) have been linked with sporadic and familial Parkinson's disease (PD). Recently, we discovered that common genetic variation near the LRRK2 locus determined survival in progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP).

Disrupted endocannabinoid signaling contributes to systemic inflammation in acute pancreatitis

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology, EarlyView.
Abstract Acute pancreatitis (AP) is an inflammatory disease that can lead to systemic complications in severe cases. The endocannabinoid system has emerged as a potential modulator of inflammation in AP. We investigated the role of the endocannabinoid 2‐arachidonoylglycerol (2‐AG) and the cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2 during AP.
