PO-159 Swimming improves metabolic syndrome by regulation insulin sensitivity and monosaccharide transporter proteins activity via NF-κB signaling pathway

open access: yesExercise Biochemistry Review, 2018
Objective Diabetes is one kind of metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia and metabolic syndrome due to insulin secretion defects or/and biological function damage. Evidences have suggested that sports plays essential role in the progression of diabetes and affects insulin resistance and monosaccharide transporter proteins activity.

Glycosylation in the thyroid gland : vital aspects of glycoprotein function in thyrocyte physiology and thyroid disorders [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The key proteins responsible for hormone synthesis in the thyroid are glycosylated. Oligosaccharides strongly affect the function of glycosylated proteins.

Construction of hyperthermostable d‐allulose 3‐epimerase from Arthrobacter globiformis M30 using the sequence information from Arthrobacter psychrolactophilus

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
d‐Allulose can be produced from d‐fructose by d‐allulose 3‐epimerase. Based on sequence homology information, we successfully engineered thermostable mutants with the protein engineering method. By integrating positive mutations, we constructed an enzyme that exhibits hyperthermostability without a loss in the activity.

Interaction of class III cellobiose dehydrogenase with lytic polysaccharide monooxygenase

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The activity of lytic polysaccharide monooxygenase (LPMO) is supported by its auxiliary enzyme cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH). The catalytic activity of both enzymes is coupled by electron transfer and a cyclic cascade generating substrates for both enzymes – hydrogen peroxide for LPMO and oxidized and non‐oxidized cellobiose and cello‐oligosaccharide ...

Crystal Structure of the Cysteine-Rich Domain of Mannose Receptor Complexed with a Sulfated Carbohydrate Ligand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The macrophage and epithelial cell mannose receptor (MR) binds carbohydrates on foreign and host molecules. Two portions of MR recognize carbohydrates: tandemly arranged C-type lectin domains facilitate carbohydrate-dependent macrophage uptake of ...

Biofilm Control by Active Topography with Mucin Coating

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports a new antifouling strategy based on a bioinspired design. Mucin coating enhances biofilm control by active topography with beating micron‐sized pillars. Besides the mechanical force of beating pillars, the antibiofilm activities also involve biological factors since mucin coating inhibits swarming motility and c‐di‐GMP synthesis in ...

Colon‐Targeted Natural Polysaccharide‐Berberine Armored Hydrogel for the Treatment of Colitis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In this research, a novel hydrogel system targeting the colon is developed, incorporating Rhubarb polysaccharides and berberine‐loaded dendrimer. This hydrogel, forms through intermolecular hydrogen bonding and electrostatic interactions, accumulates in colonic tissues, effectively alleviating pathological immune hyperactivation while modulating gut ...

Advanced Oral Delivery Systems for Nutraceuticals

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Emerging delivery technologies are explored to overcome barriers to oral nutraceutical absorption. Traditional carriers are compared with novel platforms including biodegradable polymers, MOFs, MPNs, and 3D printing. These systems enhance bioavailability, control release, and enable personalized nutrition.
