Lipid Metabolism Optimisation in Ashbya gossypii to Produce Microbial Oils From Xylose‐Rich Feedstocks

A multigenic strategy enhanced lipid production in a xylose‐utilising strain of Ashbya gossypii by boosting acetyl‐CoA and NADPH supply while blocking β‐oxidation. The engineered strain reached 60% oil content when grown on sugar mixtures simulating xylose‐rich feedstocks.

Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) content of the fungus Mortierella alpina isolated from soil

Twenty-five isolates of Mortierella spcies were prepared, which can be used for the production of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs)-rich oil for nutritional supplements. The fatty acid contents were determined after heterotrophic fermentation.
