Mouse Mammary Tumor Virus c-rel Transgenic Mice Develop Mammary Tumors [PDF]
Amplification, overexpression, or rearrangement of the c-rel gene, encoding the c-Rel NF-kappaB subunit, has been reported in solid and hematopoietic malignancies. For example, many primary human breast cancer tissue samples express high levels of nuclear c-Rel. While the Rev-T oncogene v-rel causes tumors in birds, the ability of c-Rel to transform in

A bioluminescence reporter mouse that monitors expression of constitutively active β-catenin. [PDF]
This short technical report describes the generation and characterization of a bioluminescence reporter mouse that is engineered to detect and longitudinally monitor the expression of doxycycline-induced constitutively active β-catenin. The new responder

Effect of trypsin on mouse mammary tumor virus [PDF]
Undisrupted mouse mammary tumor virus (MuMTV) derived from the milk of of RIII mice has been analyzed by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and electron microscopy after treatment with insolubilized trypsin. No alterations were found in viral fine structure by either freeze-etch or negative-stain electron microscopy.

The Role of a Betaretrovirus in Human Breast Cancer: Enveloping a Conundrum
Most of the evidence that a human betaretrovirus (HBRV/HMTV) highly related to mouse mammary tumour virus (MMTV) has an etiological role in breast cancer has been summarized in a recent comprehensive Special Issue of “Viruses” entitled “Human ...

Polyprotein Precursors to Mouse Mammary Tumor Virus Proteins [PDF]
Mouse mammary tumor virus (MMTV) derived from the culture medium of GR cells contained seven proteins, identified as gp55, gp33, p25, pp20, p16, p12, and p10. The major viral phosphoprotein was the 20,000-molecular-weight protein, pp20. Immunoprecipitation of cytoplasmic extracts from pulse-labeled GR cells identified three MMTV

Targeting collagen XVIII improves the efficiency of ErbB inhibitors in breast cancer models
The tumor extracellular matrix (ECM) critically regulates cancer progression and treatment response. Expression of the basement membrane component collagen XVIII (ColXVIII) is induced in solid tumors, but its involvement in tumorigenesis has remained ...
