Targeting transcription factors associated with hemoglobinopathies: Lessons from successful interventions and implications for cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the transcription factors, repressive chromatin‐modifying complexes, and epigenetic mechanisms that control fetal hemoglobin repression. Notably, many regulators of γ‐globin silencing also function in transcriptional and epigenetic networks that drive cancer, highlighting opportunities to translate advances in hemoglobinopathy ...

Comparative Analysis of Nuclear Transfer Embryo Derived Mouse Embryonic Stem Cells. Part II: Gene regulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In a mouse model nuclear transfer embryo-derived embryonic stem cell lines (ntESCs) of various genetic backgrounds and donor cell types were compared with reference ESCs and analyzed comprehensively at molecular level as a second part of a larger study ...

CEACAM1 participation in breast cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In invasive breast cancer (BC), CEACAM1 shifts from an apical to a uniform membranous/cytoplasmic pattern, or is lost, as tumors dedifferentiate, inversely tracking the Ki‐67 proliferative index. In MCF‐7 cells, only CEACAM1‐4L suppresses proliferation, repressing cell cycle and growth factor genes.

Pharmacological chromatin remodeling enhances response to estrogen therapy in ER+ breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Estrogen therapy elicits clinical benefit in ~ 30% of patients with endocrine‐resistant estrogen receptor (ER)‐positive breast cancer. Based on findings that ER transcriptional activation underlies response to estrogen therapy, we tested the effects of epigenetic dysregulation via pharmacological inhibition of histone deacetylases (HDACi).

Research progress on tumor-educated platelets in the diagnosis of common clinical tumors [PDF]

open access: yesZhenduanxue lilun yu shijian
Platelets not only play a crucial role in normal hemostasis and coagulation, but they are also closely associated with the occurrence, development, and metastasis of malignant tumors.

CD4 expression decrease by antisense oligonucleotides. Inhibition of rat T CD4+ cell reactivity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In previous studies, we have demonstrated the inhibition of CD4 expression in rat lymphocytes treated with phorbol myristate acetate (PMA) by antisense oligonucleotides (AS-ODNs) directed against the AUG start region of the cd4 gene.

PANoptosis in the pathogenesis of myelodysplastic syndromes

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PANoptosis, a combination of three types of programmed cell death, is mediated by a large protein complex called a PANoptosome. In healthy bone marrow hematopoietic cells, PANoptosis is restricted by inhibitory signaling. In MDS, bone marrow cells become sensitive to the PANoptotic stimuli due to the aberrant inactivation of inhibitory signaling or ...

Cytokine mRNA-expression profile.

open access: yes, 2020
(A) Alterations of cytokine mRNA-expression profile in DOX-treated KCa3.1+ mice (DOX/-DOX). (B) Cytokines with higher expression in the epidermis than in the underlying skin tissue (epidermis/ skin w/o epidermis).

Effect of introns and AT-rich sequences on expression of the bacterial hygromycin B resistance gene in the basidiomycete Schizophyllum commune [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Previously, it was shown that introns are required for efficient mRNA accumulation in Schizophyllum commune and that the presence of AT-rich sequences in the coding region of genes can result in truncation of transcripts in this homobasidiomycete.
