Unique expression features of cancer‐type organic anion transporting polypeptide 1B3 mRNA expression in human colon and lung cancers

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, 2014
Background We have previously identified the cancer‐type organic anion transporting polypeptide 1B3 (Ct‐OATP1B3) mRNA in several human colon and lung cancer tissues.

Metabolic stress-induced microRNA and mRNA expression profiles of human fibroblasts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Metabolic and oxidative stresses induce physiological adaptation processes, disrupting a finely tuned, coordinated network of gene expression. To better understand the interplay between the mRNA and miRNA transcriptomes, we examined how two distinct ...

Expression Profile of 1,000 mRNAs from Rat Retina

open access: yesThe Kitakanto Medical Journal, 2005
Backgrounds & Aims : Diabetic retinopathy is a major cause of new-onset blindness among diabetic adults that is characterized by increased vascular permeability, tissue ischemia, and neovascularization. To clarify the molecular mechanism responsible in the pathogenesis, it is important to understand the entire transcriptome of the retina tissue of ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Early raise of BDNF in hippocampus suggests induction of posttranscriptional mechanisms by antidepressants

open access: yesBMC Neuroscience, 2009
Background The neurotrophin BDNF has been implicated in the regulation of neuroplasticity, gene expression, and synaptic function in the adult brain, as well as in the pathophysiology of neuropsychiatric disorders and the mechanism of action of ...

Transcriptome Analyses of Tumor-Adjacent Somatic Tissues Reveal Genes Co-Expressed with Transposable Elements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Background: Despite the long-held assumption that transposons are normally only expressed in the germ-line, recent evidence shows that transcripts of transposable element (TE) sequences are frequently found in the somatic cells.

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Expression of Dopamine D1−4 and Serotonin 5-HT1A-3A Receptors in Blood Mononuclear Cells in Schizophrenia

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychiatry, 2021
Introduction: The aim of this study was to determine the mRNA expression profile of dopamine D1, D2, D3, D4 and serotonin 5-HT1A, 5-HT2A, and 5-HT3A receptors in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) in schizophrenia and the in vitro effect of ...

A novel long non-coding natural antisense RNA is a negative regulator of Nos1 gene expression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Long non-coding natural antisense transcripts (NATs) are widespread in eukaryotic species. Although recent studies indicate that long NATs are engaged in the regulation of gene expression, the precise functional roles of the vast majority of them are ...

Genome‑wide profiling of lncRNA and mRNA expression in CRSwNP

open access: yesMolecular Medicine Reports, 2019
Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is one of the most prevalent chronic diseases. In patients with CRSwNP, the present study performed comprehensive bioinformatics analyses to characterize the transcriptome profiles of mRNAs and long non‑coding RNAs (lncRNAs). A total of 265 differentially expressed lncRNAs and 994 mRNAs were identified.
