Phylogenetic relatedness of Erebia medusa and E. epipsodea (Lepidoptera: Nymphalidae) confirmed

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2013
The extensive genus Erebia is divided into several groups of species according to phylogenetic relatedness. The species Erebia medusa was assigned to the medusa group and E. epipsodea to the alberganus group.

Recurrent De Novo NAHR Reciprocal Duplications in the ATAD3 Gene Cluster Cause a Neurogenetic Trait with Perturbed Cholesterol and Mitochondrial Metabolism. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Recent studies have identified both recessive and dominant forms of mitochondrial disease that result from ATAD3A variants. The recessive form includes subjects with biallelic deletions mediated by non-allelic homologous recombination.

Irradiated Tumor Cell‐Derived Microparticles Activate Systemic Anti‐Tumor Immunity via the STING/NLRP3/GSDMD Axis in Neutrophils

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy induces tumor cells to release microparticles (RT‐MPs) into the circulation. The mitochondrial DNA carried by these RT‐MPs activates the STING/NLRP3/GSDMD axis in splenic neutrophils, triggering IL‐1β secretion. This, in turn, enhances dendritic cell function and facilitates the formation of cytotoxic T lymphocytes, thereby promoting ...

The consequences of nuclear transfer for mammalian foetal development and offspring survival : a mitochondrial DNA perspective [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Review of the articleThe introduction of nuclear transfer (NT) and other technologies that involve embryo reconstruction require us to reinvestigate patterns of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) transmission, transcription and replication.

A Novel CYP2E1 Inhibitor, 4‐Methyl‐5‐Acetylthiazole (Q11), Alleviates Obesity Via Modulating Adipose Inflammation and Mitochondrial Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Obesity involves chronic inflammation and mitochondrial dysfunction. This study identifies cytochrome P450 2E1 (CYP2E1) as a novel inflammatory target in adipose tissue. Its activity increases in obese mice and correlates with inflammation and mitochondrial impairment.

Genetic Relationship amongst Marica, Kacang Goat and Capra species

open access: yesInternational Journal of Agriculture System, 2015
Marica goat is an endemic species that can be found only in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. It has been reported by the FAO as endangered species because its number of population has been significantly decreased. Domestication by local people has been done by

Modern and Ancient Genomes Reveal Neolithic Paternal Expansions of Millet and Rice Farmers and Demic Diffusion from China into Mainland Southeast Asia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study clarifies the genetic patterns of paternal lineages across East Asia and Mainland Southeast Asia. Han populations are relatively homogeneous, whereas southern ethnolinguistic minorities display regional structures. Shared Y‐chromosome lineages indicate Neolithic expansions and extensive north‐south gene flow, supporting demic diffusion ...

The Missing Link of Jewish European Ancestry: Contrasting the Rhineland and the Khazarian Hypotheses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The question of Jewish ancestry has been the subject of controversy for over two centuries and has yet to be resolved. The "Rhineland Hypothesis" proposes that Eastern European Jews emerged from a small group of German Jews who migrated eastward and ...

Connexin43 Deficiency Leads to Ventricular Arrhythmias by Reprogramming Proline Metabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study demonstrated that connexin43 (Cx43) knockout caused arrhythmic phenotype and decreased proline content in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, Cx43 interacts with the amino acid transporter SNAT2 (sodium‐dependent neutral amino acid transporter), and its deficiency disrupts proline transport and metabolism.
