THE ROLE OF MITOCHONDRIA IN THE FORMATION OF THE BIOPHYSICAL POTENTIAL OF THE BODY AND THE MANIFESTATION OF HETEROSIS

open access: yesJournal of Bioinformatics and Genomics, 2023
A retrospective analysis of the theoretical developments of the causes of the phenomenon of heterosis has been carried out. In connection with new scientific achievements of the fundamental sciences, various hypotheses of heterosis have been revised.

Ethics of modifying the mitochondrial genome [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Recent preclinical studies have shown the feasibility of specific variants of nuclear transfer to prevent mitochondrial DNA disorders. Nuclear transfer could be a valuable reproductive option for carriers of mitochondrial mutations.

Bimetallic Nanoreactor Activates cGAS‐STING Pathway via mtDNA Release for Cancer Metalloimmunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A bimetallic Mn–Ca nanoreactor (MCC) is developed as a non‐nucleotide STING nanoagonist for cancer metalloimmunotherapy. MCC induces Ca2+ overload and hydroxyl radical generation, resulting in mitochondrial damage and mtDNA release. The released mtDNA cooperates with Mn2+ to robustly activate cGAS–STING signaling.

The mitochondrial genome of the endemic Brazilian paradoxical frog Pseudis tocantins (Hylidae)

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2018
In this work, we present for the first time the mitochondrial genome of a paradoxical frog (Pseudis tocantins). This genome is 15.56 kb, excluding the control region, and is similar in gene content to other hylid mitogenomes. Maximum likelihood analysis,

Complete mitochondrial genomes of Baikal endemic coregonids: omul and lacustrine whitefish (Salmonidae: Coregonus sp.)

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2020
Coregonid fishes are among the most successful groups in the subarctic, boreal, and subalpine fresh waters of the northern hemisphere. Limnetic–benthic sympatric species-pairs from two different evolutionary lineages, the North American lake whitefish ...

Mitochondria directly influence fertilisation outcome in the pig [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The mitochondrion is explicitly involved in cytoplasmic regulation and is the cell's major generator of ATP. Our aim was to determine whether mitochondria alone could influence fertilisation outcome.

A Single‐Metal‐Doped Nanoplatform for Ferroptosis‐Driven cGAS‐STING Pathway Activation in Hepatocellular Carcinoma Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The cGAS‐STING pathway boosts HCC antitumor immunity but lacks specific activation. Nanoplatform ZMRPF induces HCC ferroptosis via lipid ROS, releasing mtDNA. It synergizes with ZMRPF‐released Mn2⁺ to activate cGAS‐STING, amplifies antigen‐presenting cell activity, reverses HCC immunosuppression, and enables robust systemic antitumor immunity ...

Complete mitochondrial genome of an undescribed gnomefish of the genus Scombrops (Teleostei, Scombropidae) from southern waters off Kyushu Island, Japan

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2017
The complete mitochondrial genome of an undescribed gnomefish species of the genus Scombrops was determined using a PCR-based method. The total length of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) was 16,521 bp, and included 13 protein-coding genes, two ribosomal RNA ...

The complete mitochondrial genome sequence of the hawk moth, Theretra oldenlandiae (Lepidoptera: Sphingidae)

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2020
In this study, we analyzed the complete mitochondrial genome sequence of the hawk moth, Theretra oldenlandiae. The complete mitogenome sequence of T. oldenlandiae was observed to be a circular molecule 15,312 bp long and consisting of 13 protein-coding ...

CHEMERIN AS A POTENTIAL REGULATOR OF MITOCHONDRIAL QUALITY CONTROL IN OBESE PATIENTS

open access: yesМедицинская иммунология, 2021
In obese patients, the relationship between the content of chemerin in blood plasma and the expression of genes TFAM, Drp1, MFN2, SOD, BAX, responsible for quality control of mitochondria, in insulin-dependent tissues (adipose tissue, liver) was revealed.
