jMorp: Japanese Multi Omics Reference Panel [PDF]

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 2017
We developed jMorp, a new database containing metabolome and proteome data for plasma obtained from >5000 healthy Japanese volunteers from the Tohoku Medical Megabank Cohort Study, which is available at https://jmorp.megabank.tohoku.ac.jp. Metabolome data were measured by proton nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and liquid chromatography-mass ...

Overview of molecular signatures of senescence and associated resources: pros and cons

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cells can enter a stress response state termed cellular senescence that is involved in various diseases and aging. Detecting these cells is challenging due to the lack of universal biomarkers. This review presents the current state of senescence identification, from biomarkers to molecular signatures, compares tools and approaches, and highlights ...

Multi‐omics and low‐input proteomics profiling reveals dynamic regulation driving pluripotency initiation in early mouse embryos

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Mouse pre‐implantation development involves a transition from totipotency to pluripotency. Integrating transcriptomics, epigenetic profiling, low‐input proteomics and functional assays, we show that eight‐cell embryos retain residual totipotency features, whereas cytoskeletal remodeling regulated by the ubiquitin‐proteasome system drives progression ...

Chromatin dynamics and regulatory drivers of hypoplastic hepatic progenitor cells in partial hepatectomy model

open access: yesCommunications Biology
The remarkable plasticity of hepatocytes underlies diverse roles in distinct patterns of liver injury. Specifically, hepatocyte-derived progenitor cells play dominant roles in driving the regenerative response during chronic liver injury.

The Aging Blood: Cellular Origins, Circulating Drivers, and Therapeutic Potential

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
As a conduit linking all organs, the blood system both reflects and actively drives systemic aging. This review highlights how circulating pro‐aging and antiaging factors and age‐associated hematopoietic stem cell dysfunction contribute to immunosenescence and multi‐organ decline, positioning the hematopoietic system as a target for aging intervention.

Tracing the tissue origin of cell-free DNA through open chromatin footprint

open access: yesCommunications Biology
Plasma cell-free DNA (cfDNA) is a promising biomarker for liquid biopsy, essential for diagnosing and monitoring diseases. Current methods for estimating tissue contributions primarily rely on methylation markers, which can damage cfDNA, limiting ...
