AbstractControl over the monomer sequence during polymerization has attracted great attention in polymer science, but it remains a serious challenge. Recently, multicomponent reactions have been playing a significant role in the synthesis of sequence‐controlled polymers due to their inherent advantage of combining three or more starting materials in ...

Borylated reagents for multicomponent reactions
Drug Discovery Today: Technologies, 2018Over the past two decades, there has been an increasing interest in the therapeutic potential of organoboron reagents due to the discovery of bortezomib (Velcade). This has motivated synthetic chemists to develop novel routes for the preparation of heteroatom-rich boron-containing molecules (BCMs).

Nonracemizable Isocyanoacetates for Multicomponent Reactions
The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2008Chiral ortho esters of alpha-isocyano acids were synthesized from commercially available Cbz-protected alpha-amino acids. These compounds are stable toward racemization in the Ugi 4CC in contrast to known esters of alpha-isocyano acids. Applying them in Ugi 4CC with subsequent deprotection gives access to dipeptides with preserved configuration at the ...

Multicomponent reactions for the synthesis of pyrroles
Chemical Society Reviews, 2010Multicomponent reactions are one of the most interesting concepts in modern synthetic chemistry and, as shown in this critical review, they provide an attractive entry into pyrrole derivatives, which are very important heterocycles from many points of view including medicinal and pharmaceutical chemistry and materials science (97 references).

Multicomponent Reactions of Convertible Isonitriles
The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2009A new family of unsaturated isonitriles has been prepared by the base-promoted ring-opening of oxazoles, offering an alternative to the conventional formamide dehydration route. These compounds undergo the full complement of multicomponent reactions for which isonitriles are known and offer the desirable trait of giving amide products that readily ...

Multicomponent Reactions for Surface Modification
Macromolecular Rapid Communications, 2018AbstractModification of material surfaces with polymers is an effective method to develop applicable polymer–material composites. Recently, multicomponent reactions (MCRs) have found their roles in advanced polymer chemistry and applied in surface modification.

Integrating biocatalysis and multicomponent reactions
Drug Discovery Today: Technologies, 2018While often multicomponent reactions (MCR) are used for the diversity-oriented synthesis of racemic (or achiral) molecular entities, this short review describes two alternative approaches for accessing enantiopure products exploiting the power of biocatalysis.

Multicomponent Reactions in Polymer Synthesis
Angewandte Chemie International Edition, 2013More participants, yet efficient reactions: Multicomponent reactions (MCRs) have found application in polymer chemistry both in the synthesis of multifunctional monomers and in post-polymerization modification. Examples include the Passerini three-component reaction, the Ugi four-component reaction, and the copper-catalyzed MCR.

Multicomponent Reactions for the Synthesis of Heterocycles
Chemistry – An Asian Journal, 2010AbstractMulticomponent domino reactions (MDRs) serve as a rapid and efficient tool for the synthesis of versatile heterocycles, particularly those containing structural diversity and complexity, by a one‐pot operation. These reactions can dramatically reduce the generation of chemical wastes, costs of starting materials, and the use of energy and ...

Multicomponent Reactions Are Accelerated in Water
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2003Two multicomponent reactions, the Ugi and Passerini reactions, are accelerated by the use of aqueous solutions. The rate enhancements compared to those by organic solvents can approach 300-fold. Reactions performed in water offer another advantage that products are often insoluble, permitting direct isolation by precipitation.
