Mutagenicity tests with cadmium in the mouse

Toxicology, 1975
The testicle is known to be the critical organ in acute exposure of experimental mammals to cadmium. Such treatment results in temporary sterility and, very often, in the appearance of testicular interstitial cell tumors. The present experiments were performed to determine whether such deleterious effects on the male reproductive organs involved any ...

Short‐term mutagenicity tests

Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health, 1980
The universality of the genetic system in living organisms and the high experimental correlation between mutagenicity and carcinogenicity provide the rational basis for the use of mutagenicity in screening of possible carcinogens. The present genetic methodologies using microorganisms, cell cultures, Drosophila, and rodents are evaluated.

Mutagenicity testing in industry [PDF]

open access: possibleArchives of Toxicology, 1977
The aims of authorities, university and industrial scientists are outlined. The prime feature remains: How important are the achieved results for estimating the mutagenic risk to humans? The various methods available for the testing of chemical substances for mutagenicity are compared.

Salmonella mutagenicity tests: III. Results from the testing of 255 chemicals.

Environmental Mutagenesis, 1987
The results and data from the testing of 255 chemicals for mutagenicity in Salmonella are presented. All chemicals were tested under code using a preincubation modification of the Salmonella/microsome test in the absence of exogenous metabolic activation

Nurses' and pharmacists' exposure to antineoplastic drugs: findings from industrial hygiene scans and urine mutagenicity tests.

Cancer Nursing, 1998
Data from 83 nurses and pharmacists handling antineoplastic drugs and 35 nurse/pharmacist controls who participated in a national study of antineoplastic drug-handling risks were examined to investigate antineoplastic drug exposure.

Mutagenicity testing with Salmonella microsome test

Archives of Toxicology, 1980
This in vitro mutagenicity test system comprises five different strains of S. typhimurium as target cells with the rat liver S-9 fraction and appropriate co-factors for metabolic activation of the chemical tested. The bacterial tester strains detect both mutations induced by base pair substitutions and intercalation (frame shift mutations).

Mutagenicity tests of fabric-finishing agents in Salmonella typhimurium: fiber-reactive wool dyes and cotton flame retardants.

Environmental Mutagenesis, 1980
Thirty-nine fabric-finishing agents were tested for mutagenic activity in Salmonella typhimurium. Twenty-four fiber-reactive wool dyes and three acid dyes (not fiber-reactive) were screened by spot tests in strains TA100, TA98, TA1535, and TA1537.
