Bio-isoprene production using exogenous MVA pathway and isoprene synthase in Escherichia coli

Bioresource Technology, 2012
In this paper, an original strategy is employed to biosynthesize the isoprene by heterologously co-expressing the Saccharomyces cerevisiae MVA pathway and isoprene synthase (IspS) from Populus alba in the Escherichia coli BL21 (DE3) strain, which was screened from three different IspS enzymes.

Molecular cloning and characterization of mevalonic acid (MVA) pathway genes and triterpene accumulation in Panax ginseng

Journal of the Korean Society for Applied Biological Chemistry, 2014
Panax ginseng Meyer is one of the most important medicinal plants in Asia, and ginseng has attracted considerable attention worldwide. Triterpene saponins (ginsenosides) are the main bioactive compounds in P. ginseng. The isoprene units of triterpene are derived from the mevalonic acid (MVA) pathway.

Enhanced production of biosynthesized lycopene via heterogenous MVA pathway based on chromosomal multiple position integration strategy plus plasmid systems in Escherichia coli

Bioresource Technology, 2018
The multiple plasmid system, mostly relied, for heterogeneous gene expression, results in genetic instability and low mean productivity. To address this, an integration method was employed for investigating expression of heterogenous pathway in E. coli cells; where mevalonate upper pathway was found efficiently expressed.

Identification and bioinformatics analysis of genes associated with MVA pathway in Magnolia officinalis

China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica, 2015
Methyl valerate (MVA) pathway is one of the important ways for synthesis of terpenoids. This study was based on data of the transcriptome sequencing of Magnolia officinalis, the associated genes MoACOT, MoHMGS, MoHMGR, MoMK in methyl valerate (MVA) pathway, were completed in detail by using bioinformatics methods.

Network Analysis of the MVA and MEP Pathways for Isoprenoid Synthesis

Annual Review of Plant Biology, 2013
Isoprenoid biosynthesis is essential for all living organisms, and isoprenoids are also of industrial and agricultural interest. All isoprenoids are derived from prenyl diphosphate (prenyl-PP) precursors. Unlike isoprenoid biosynthesis in other living organisms, prenyl-PP, as the precursor of all isoprenoids in plants, is synthesized by two ...

Gypenosides suppress hepatocellular carcinoma cells by blocking cholesterol biosynthesis through inhibition of MVA pathway enzyme HMGCS1

Chemico-Biological Interactions, 2023
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common malignant tumors with high morbidity and mortality. Targeting abnormal cholesterol metabolism is a potential therapeutic direction. Therefore, more natural drugs targeting cholesterol in HCC need to be developed.

Utilisation of the MVA pathway to produce elevated levels of the sesquiterpene α-copaene in potato tubers

Phytochemistry, 2011
Potato flavour is a complex trait resulting from the presence of a combination of volatile and non-volatile compounds. The aim of this work was to investigate the effect of specifically altering the volatile content of tubers and assess its impact on flavour. Tuber-specific over-expression of a potato α-copaene synthase gene resulted in enhanced levels

The MVA pathway genes expressions and accumulation of celastrol in Tripterygium wilfordii suspension cells in response to methyl jasmonate treatment

Journal of Asian Natural Products Research, 2016
Celastrol is an important bioactive triterpenoid in traditional Chinese medicinal plant, Tripterygium wilfordii. Methyl Jasmonate (MJ) is a common plant hormone which can regulate the secondary metabolism in higher plants. In this study, the mevalonate (MVA) pathway genes in T. wilfordii were firstly cloned. The suspension cells of T.

[Effects of tHMGR from three different plant sources on mevalonate (MVA) pathway flux in Saccharomyces cerevisiae].

Zhongguo Zhong yao za zhi = Zhongguo zhongyao zazhi = China journal of Chinese materia medica, 2022
In this study, we used bioinformatic tools to analyze the 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase(HMGR) genes from Glycyrrhiza uralensis, Artemisia annua, and Arabidopsis thaliana. The results indicated that GuHMGR and AaHMGR contained two transmembrane regions while AtHMGR had three transmembrane regions. GuHMGR, AaHMGR, and AtHMGR all had the active
