This study found that the metabolomic signature of umbilical venous cord blood in congenital heart disease (CHD) differs from that of healthy monozygotic (MZ) co‐twins. Dysregulation of metabolic pathways like glucose, lipid, and amino acid metabolism, along with altered metabolites, helps understand CHD predisposition.

Proteome Analysis of Corynebacterium diphtheriae–Macrophage Interaction
ABSTRACT Contact of Corynebacterium diphtheriae with macrophages induces adaptations on both bacterial and cellular sides. The study presented here was aiming to shed light on the simultaneous intracellular adaptation of the bacteria and changes in the proteome of the phagocytes in response to the internalization of C. diphtheriae.

Reduction of Phytate in Soy Drink by Fermentation with Lactobacillus casei Expressing Phytases From Bifidobacteria [PDF]
Plant-based food products can be modified by fermentation to improve flavour and the concentration of some biologically active compounds, but also to increase the mineral availability by eliminating anti-nutrient substances such as phytates.

Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Plant‐ and microbial‐derived residues constitute the primary sources of soil organic carbon (SOC) in grassland ecosystems. However, their differential responses to chronic nitrogen (N) enrichment and the depth‐dependent mechanisms governing their accumulation remain ...
