Myo-Inositol and Its Derivatives: Their Emerging Role in the Treatment of Human Diseases
Myo-inositol has been established as an important growth-promoting factor of mammalian cells and animals. The role of myo-inositol as a lipotropic factor has been proven, in addition to its involvement as co-factors of enzymes and as messenger molecules ...

Diphospho-myo-inositol phosphates from Dictyostelium identified as d-6-diphospho-myo-inositol pentakisphosphate and d-5,6-bisdiphospho-myo-inositol tetrakisphosphate [PDF]
Two diphospho-myo-inositol phosphates from Dictyostelium were recently investigated by two-dimensional 1H/31P NMR analysis and assigned to be either d-4-diphospho-myo-inositol pentakisphosphate (d-4-PP-InsP5) and d-4,5-bisdiphospho-myo-inositol tetrakisphosphate (d-4,5-bis-PP-InsP4) or their corresponding enantiomers d-6-PP-InsP5 and d-5,6-bis-PP-InsP4.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...
