Effects of age on intestinal phosphate transport and biochemical values of broiler chickens [PDF]

open access: yesAsian-Australasian Journal of Animal Sciences, 2017
Objective The objective of this experiment was to characterize the mRNA expression profile of type IIb sodium-inorganic phosphate cotransporter (NaPi-IIb) and the biochemical values of serum alkaline phosphatase (AKP), calcium, inorganic phosphorus ...

Intestinal segment and vitamin D3 concentration affect gene expression levels of calcium and phosphorus transporters in broiler chickens

open access: yesJournal of Animal Science and Technology, 2023
Two experiments were conducted in this research. Experiment 1 investigated the spatial expression characteristics of calcium (Ca) and phosphorus (P) transporters in the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum of 21-day-old broilers provided with adequate nutrient ...

Distinct functional properties of two electrogenic isoforms of the SLC34 Na‐Pi cotransporter

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, 2019
Inorganic phosphate (Pi) is crucial for proper cellular function in all organisms. In mammals, type II Na‐Pi cotransporters encoded by members of the Slc34 gene family play major roles in the maintenance of Pi homeostasis.

Effect of feeding low phytate maize on performance, bone-breaking strength, and intestinal phosphorus transporters in slow-growing chickens during starter phase

open access: yesJournal of Applied Poultry Research, 2023
SUMMARY: A major portion of the total P present in maize grain is in the form of phytic acid, which affects P bioavailability. The study was undertaken to determine the effect of feeding low phytate maize (LPM) with varying levels of nonphytate ...

Sodium-Inorganic Phosphate Cotransporter NaPi-IIb in the Epididymis and Its Potential Role in Male Fertility Studied in a Transgenic Mouse Model1 [PDF]

open access: yesBiology of Reproduction, 2003
Analysis by cDNA microarrays showed that in the murine epididymis, NaPi-IIb was the predominantly expressed epithelial isoform of the sodium-inorganic phosphate cotransporter and was markedly overexpressed in the proximal region in the infertile knockout (KO) compared to the fertile heterozygous (HET) c-ros transgenic mouse.

Dietary phosphorus deficiency impaired growth, intestinal digestion and absorption function of meat ducks [PDF]

open access: yesAsian-Australasian Journal of Animal Sciences, 2019
Objective An experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary non-phytate phosphorus (nPP) deficiency on intestinal pH value, digestive enzyme activity, morphology, nutrient utilization, and gene expression of NaPi-IIb in meat ducks from 1 ...

Optimal Dietary Levels of 1α-Hydroxycholecalciferol in Broiler Chickens from 1 to 42 Days of Age

open access: yesThe Journal of Poultry Science, 2020
1α-Hydroxycholecalciferol (1α-OH-D3) is an active vitamin D derivative. In this study, three experiments were conducted to evaluate the optimal dietary levels of 1α-OH-D3 in broiler chickens from 1 to 42 days of age.

Influence of dietary vitamin E and selenium supplementation on broilers subjected to heat stress, Part I: Growth performance, body composition and intestinal nutrient transporters

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2022
: High ambient temperature is one of the most common stressors in modern poultry production, resulting in reduced feed intake, weight gain, and increased mortality.

The sodium-phosphate co-transporter SLC34A2, and pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis: Presentation of an inbred family and a novel truncating mutation in exon 3

open access: yesRespiratory Medicine Case Reports, 2015
Pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis is a disorder in which many tiny fragments (microliths) of calcium phosphate gradually accumulate in alveoli. Loss of function mutations in the gene SLC34A2 coding for the sodium phosphate co-transporter (NaPi-IIb) are ...

Effect of inorganic phosphate supplementation on egg production in Hy-Line Brown layers fed 2000 FTU/kg phytase

open access: yesAnimal, 2020
Phytase has long been used to decrease the inorganic phosphorus (Pi) input in poultry diet. The current study was conducted to investigate the effects of Pi supplementation on laying performance, egg quality and phosphate–calcium metabolism in Hy-Line ...
