Revealing patterns of endemism in the transatlantic family Chelodesmidae (Polydesmida: Diplopoda)

open access: yesCladistics, Volume 42, Issue 2, Page 159-171, April 2026.
Abstract With fossil records dating back to the Silurian/Late Ordovician, millipedes stand out as one of the earliest terrestrial animal groups. Their limited vagility and high endemism make them valuable tools for formulating and testing biogeographic hypotheses, including those related to macro‐vicariance events.

Distortion of Infall Regions in Redshift Space-I

open access: yes, 2013
We show that spherical infall models (SIMs) can better describe some galaxy clusters in redshift slice space than in traditional axially-convolved projection space.

Professionalism, Golf Coaching and a Master of Science Degree: A commentary [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
As a point of reference I congratulate Simon Jenkins on tackling the issue of professionalism in coaching. As he points out coaching is not a profession, but this does not mean that coaching would not benefit from going through a professionalization ...

Extremely drug-resistant NDM-9-producing ST147 Klebsiella pneumoniae causing infections in Italy, May 2020

open access: yesEuro surveillance : bulletin Europeen sur les maladies transmissibles = European communicable disease bulletin, 2020
A large outbreak of New Delhi metallo-beta-lactamase (NDM)-1-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae sequence type (ST) 147 occurred in Tuscany, Italy in 2018–2019. In 2020, ST147 NDM-9-producing K.

Traces of Hecke operators on Drinfeld modular forms for GL2(Fq[T])$\operatorname{GL}_2(\mathbb {F}_q[T])$

open access: yesMathematika, Volume 72, Issue 2, April 2026.
Abstract In this paper, we study traces of Hecke operators on Drinfeld modular forms of level 1 in the case A=Fq[T]$A = \mathbb {F}_q[T]$. We deduce closed‐form expressions for traces of Hecke operators corresponding to primes of degree at most 2 and provide algorithms for primes of higher degree.

Evaluation of co-transfer of plasmid-mediated fluoroquinolone resistance genes and bla NDM gene in Enterobacteriaceae causing neonatal septicaemia

open access: yesAntimicrobial Resistance and Infection Control, 2019
Background The bla NDM-1 (New Delhi Metallo-β-lactamase-1) gene has disseminated around the globe. NDM-1 producers are found to co-harbour resistance genes against many antimicrobials, including fluoroquinolones.

Decision making by patients: An application of naturalistic decision making theory to cervical screening and chronic renal failure, Working Paper 2006/5 [PDF]

open access: yes
Over their lifetime, individuals typically make many decisions about health and health care. Theoretical approaches to decision making have been dominated by a rational, analytic approach which assumes that problems are relatively fixed and well-defined ...

Cosmological Lithium Problems

open access: yes, 2018
We briefly describe the cosmological lithium problems followed by a summary of our recent theoretical work on the magnitude of the effects of electron screening, the possible existence of dark matter parallel universes and the use of non-extensive ...

Cross-Border Emergence of Escherichia coli Producing the Carbapenemase NDM-5 in Switzerland and Germany

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Microbiology, 2020
A series of clinical NDM-5-producing Escherichia coli isolates obtained from two surveillance networks for carbapenem-producing Enterobacterales from 2018 to 2019, namely, Switzerland (NARA) and Germany (SurvCARE), were analyzed. The 33 NDM-5-producing E.

Novel variant NDM-11 and other NDM-1 variants in multidrug-resistant Escherichia coli from South India

open access: yesJournal of Global Antimicrobial Resistance, 2018
Carbapenem resistance mediated by New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase 1 (NDM-1) and its variants has caused a major public-health concern worldwide. Here we report for the first time an Escherichia coli isolate positive for a novel variant (NDM-11).blaNDM genes were investigated in E. coli by PCR and sequencing, and blaNDM variants were further characterised.
