The Immunologic Functions of the Neonatal Fc Receptor for IgG [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Immunology, 2012
Careful regulation of the body's immunoglobulin G (IgG) and albumin concentrations is necessitated by the importance of their respective functions. As such, the neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn), as a single receptor, is capable of regulating both of these molecules and has become an important focus of investigation. In addition to these essential protection

Detection of erythropoiesis stimulating agent Luspatercept after administration to healthy volunteers for antidoping purposes

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, Volume 14, Issue 11-12, Page 1952-1961, November-December 2022., 2022
This study was to perform the first administration of drug Reblozyl (Luspatercept) for testing doping detection. Detection was possible with serum, urine, and DBS for over 70 days. SDS‐PAGE, SAR‐PAGE or IEF‐PAGE method can be used for confirmation. Indirect detection by looking at hematological parameters variation was less efficient.

Mapping of the Neonatal Fc Receptor in the Rodent Eye [PDF]

open access: yesInvestigative Opthalmology & Visual Science, 2008
The neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn) has been known to modulate IgG transport and protect against IgG catabolism, resulting in extension of the serum half-life of IgG. The goal of this study was to localize FcRn receptor expression in the rat's eye.The cornea, retina, conjunctiva, ciliary body and iris, retinal pigment epithelium and choroid, and lens were ...

Antibody Fc engineering for enhanced neonatal Fc receptor binding and prolonged circulation half-life

open access: yesmAbs, 2019
The neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn) promotes antibody recycling through rescue from normal lysosomal degradation. The binding interaction is pH-dependent with high affinity at low pH, but not under physiological pH conditions.

Enhanced immunogenic potential of cancer immunotherapy antibodies in human IgG1 transgenic mice

open access: yesmAbs, 2022
Clinical anti-drug-antibody (ADA) responses represent a substantial obstacle to the development of efficacious therapeutic antibodies. The enhanced ADA production against the idiotype (Id) often displayed by cancer immunotherapy antibodies (CitAbs) can ...

Pleural CD14+ monocytes/macrophages of healthy adolescents show a high expression of metallothionein family genes

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 53, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
Modern surgical (technical) possibilities enable pleural macrophage isolation and analyses regardless the person`s age. Transcriptome profiling of macrophages from healthy or sick individuals revealed that these cells express high levels of metallothioneins, metal‐binding proteins that are involved in heavy metal detoxification, antioxidative defense ...

Taking the Hinge off: An Approach to Effector-Less Monoclonal Antibodies

open access: yesAntibodies, 2020
A variety of Fc domain engineering approaches for abrogating the effector functions of mAbs exists. To address some of the limitations of the current Fc domain silencing approaches, we are exploring a less commonly considered option which relies on the ...

SmartArm: Suturing Feasibility of a Surgical Robotic System on a Neonatal Chest Model [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Medical Robotics and Bionics, vol. 3, no. 1, pp. 253-256, Feb. 2021, 2021
Commercially available surgical-robot technology currently addresses many surgical scenarios for adult patients. This same technology cannot be used to the benefit of neonate patients given the considerably smaller workspace. Medically relevant procedures regarding neonate patients include minimally invasive surgery to repair congenital esophagus ...

Natural history of liver disease in a large international cohort of children with Alagille syndrome: Results from the GALA study

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Natural history of liver disease in a large international cohort of children with Alagille syndrome: Results from the GALA study. Abstract Background and Aims Alagille syndrome (ALGS) is a multisystem disorder, characterized by cholestasis. Existing outcome data are largely derived from tertiary centers, and real‐world data are lacking.

Selection of Nanobodies that Target Human Neonatal Fc Receptor [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2013
FcRn is a key player in several immunological and non-immunological processes, as it mediates maternal-fetal transfer of IgG, regulates the serum persistence of IgG and albumin, and transports both ligands between different cellular compartments. In addition, FcRn enhances antigen presentation.
