Mass spectrometry in ocular drug research

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Mass spectrometry (MS) has been proven as an excellent tool in ocular drug research allowing analyzes from small samples and low concentrations. This review begins with a short introduction to eye physiology and ocular pharmacokinetics and the relevance of advancing ophthalmic treatments.

Recovery from hind limb ischemia is less effective in type 2 than in type 1 diabetic mice: Roles of endothelial nitric oxide synthase and endothelial progenitor cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
ObjectiveWe sought to directly compare the effects of type 1 and type 2 diabetes on postischemic neovascularization and evaluate the mechanisms underlying differences between these groups. We tested the hypothesis that type 2 diabetic mice have a greater

3D‐Printed Titanium Trabecular Scaffolds with Sustained Release of Hypoxia‐Induced Exosomes for Dual‐Mimetic Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents 3D‐printed Ti‐6Al‐4V trabecular scaffolds combined with hypoxia‐induced exosomes encapsulated in PEGDA/GelMA microspheres for sustained release. The scaffolds mimic the structure of natural bone, while the exosome delivery system enhances osteogenesis and angiogenesis, significantly promoting bone regeneration and offering a ...

Immunocompetent murine models for the study of glioblastoma immunotherapy. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Glioblastoma remains a lethal diagnosis with a 5-year survival rate of less than 10%. (NEJM 352:987-96, 2005) Although immunotherapy-based approaches are capable of inducing detectable immune responses against tumor-specific antigens, improvements in ...

An Intelligent and Conductive Hydrogel with Multiresponsive and ROS Scavenging Properties for Infection Prevention and Anti‐Inflammatory Treatment Assisted by Electrical Stimulation for Diabetic Wound

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study introduces a novel therapeutic approach that employs a conductive hydrogel (HEPP) responsive to near‐infrared light, pH levels, and reactive oxygen species. Its goal is to enhance the healing environment affected by elevated glucose levels, insufficient oxygen, and bacterial infections in diabetes‐related wounds.

Decentralized physiology and the molecular basis of social life in eusocial insects [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
The traditional focus of physiological and functional genomic research is on molecular processes that play out within a single body. In contrast, when social interactions occur, molecular and behavioral responses in interacting individuals can lead to physiological processes that are distributed across multiple individuals. In eusocial insect colonies,

Injectable and Sprayable Thermoresponsive Hydrogel with Fouling‐Resistance as an Effective Barrier to Prevent Postoperative Cardiac Adhesions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Postoperative cardiac adhesions lead to numerous difficulties in reoperation procedures. Here, a thermo‐responsive in situ formed hydrogel is shown to can reliably cover the wounds after a convenient spraying or injection and significantly reduce adhesion formation in primary and recurrent cardiac injury adhesion models.

Reinforcing Stromal Cell Spheroid Through Red‐Light Preconditioning for Advanced Vascularization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel approach to enhance stromal cell therapy for myocardial infarction by combining OLED‐based photobiomodulation (OPBM) preconditioning with 3D spheroid culture of hADSCs. The engineered spheroids improve angiogenesis, arterialization, and cardiac function in vivo, offering a next‐generation therapeutic strategy to overcome ...
