EVALUATION OF SOME ANTIOXIDANTS’ EFFECTS IN KIDNEY HISTOLOGICAL STRUCTURE OF WEANED PIGS, INTOXICATED WITH DEOXYNIVALENOL (DON)

open access: yesScientific Papers Animal Science and Biotechnologies, 2023
Deoxynivalenol is a mycotoxin produced by fungi of the Fusarium genera, which are abundant in various cereal crops and processed grains. In order to protect cell structure within the tissues studied, we tried various experimental variants by ...

Sequence analysis, homology modeling, tissue expression, and potential functions of seven putative acetylcholinesterases in the spider Cupiennius salei

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 60, Issue 7, Page 5785-5811, October 2024.
Analysis of the Cupiennius salei transcriptome identified seven putative Acetylcholine esterase (AChE) genes, six for soluble AChEs and one, CsAChE7, likely encoding a membrane‐bound synaptic AChE. Soluble AChEs were expressed in the central nervous system, peripheral nervous system, muscle, and heart, while CsAChE7 was exclusive to the nervous system.

Cilastatin protects against imipenem-induced nephrotoxicity via inhibition of renal organic anion transporters (OATs)

open access: yesActa Pharmaceutica Sinica B, 2019
Imipenem is a carbapenem antibiotic. However, Imipenem could not be marketed owing to its instability and nephrotoxicity until cilastatin, an inhibitor of renal dehydropeptidase-I (DHP-I), was developed.

Variation in Whole‐Body Regeneration Between Botrylloides Morphs and Species

open access: yesJournal of Marine Sciences, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
Marine invertebrates exhibit an impressive regenerative capacity. Among these lineages, colonial ascidians possess the unique ability of whole‐body regeneration (WBR), in which a new adult (zooid) body is restored. Botrylloides species exemplify this regenerative capacity by regenerating new adults solely from vascular tissue within approximately 2 ...

Effect of Gcn5/KAT2B variant on histone acetylation and survival of Drosophila nephrocytes. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
(A) Acetylated H3K9 in larval garland nephrocytes of Gcn5null and Gcn5 WT and mutant rescue animals. Dorothy (Dot)-GAL4 (a nephrocyte specific driver) is used in combination with da-GAL4 as the latter shows only minor expression in nephrocytes.

Modeling Monogenic Human Nephrotic Syndrome in the Drosophila Garland Cell Nephrocyte [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Society of Nephrology, 2016
Steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome is characterized by podocyte dysfunction. Drosophila garland cell nephrocytes are podocyte-like cells and thus provide a potential in vivo model in which to study the pathogenesis of nephrotic syndrome. However, relevant pathomechanisms of nephrotic syndrome have not been studied in nephrocytes.

Expression and localization of Hts and Gcn5 in garland nephrocytes. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
(A) Schematic drawing of the localization of garland nephrocytes (GNs) and pericardial nephrocytes (PNs). The garland cells are attached to the proventriculus (PV) whereas the pericardial nephrocytes are lining the heart tube (HT).

Forward genetic screen in human podocytes identifies diphthamide biosynthesis genes as regulators of adhesion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Podocyte function is tightly linked to the complex organization of its cytoskeleton and adhesion to the underlying glomerular basement membrane. Adhesion of cultured podocytes to a variety of substrates is reported to correlate with podocyte health.
