Chemical terrorism and nerve agents
Sarin and VX were released on an unprotected civilian population in Japan on six occasions in 1994−5. Clinicians must be prepared, therefore, to treat casualties from nerve agent exposure. This requires an understanding of the mechanisms of nerve agent toxicity and the factors which influence their clinical impact.

Study of Poly(3-hexyltiophene) Polymer Sensing Properties in Nerve Agent Simulant (DMMP) Detection
In the present work we report the use of regioregular poly(3-hexyltiophene) polymer (RR-P3HT) as a resistive sensor for the detection of chemical nerve agent simulant, dimethyl methylphosphonate (DMMP).

Bridging larger gaps in peripheral nerves using neural prosthetics and physical therapeutic agents
Peripheral nerve injuries are relatively common and can be caused by a variety of traumatic events such as motor vehicle accidents. They can lead to long-term disability, pain, and financial burden, and contribute to poor quality of life. In this review,

Esters of organophosphorus acids: Toxicity, application and removal from the environment [PDF]
Esters of organophosphorus acids (OPs) are widely used nowadays. They have an application as pesticides, drugs or chemical warfare agents. Their acute toxicity is ascribed to the inhibition of acetylcholinesterase (AChE), a key enzyme in the transmission

LABORATORY EXAMINATION IN NERVE AGENT INTOXICATION [PDF]
Diagnosis of nerve agent intoxication is based on anamnestic data, clinical signs and laboratory examination. For acute poisoning, cholinesterase activity in the blood (erythrocyte AChE, plasma/serum BuChE) is sensitive, simple and most frequent laboratory examination performed in biochemical laboratories. Specialized examinations to precise treatment (
