Mixed lineage kinase 3 mediates SARS‐CoV‐2‐induced kidney injury via the Hsp70‐IL‐17A axis
Kidney samples from patients infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‑CoV‑2) showed upregulated expression and activity of Mixed Lineage Kinase (MLK3). Based on the mechanistic studies, we identified MLK3 as a critical player in promoting SARS‐CoV‐2‐induced kidney injury.

ABSTRACT This study aimed to investigate associations of plasma and synovial fluid vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF‐A) and neuropilin‐1 (NRP1) levels with radiographic severity, pain sensitization‐related features, and disease burden in knee osteoarthritis (KOA). Plasma VEGF‐A and NRP1 were measured by sandwich ELISA in 120 patients with KOA (

Advances and challenges in experimental models for Epstein–Barr virus research
Abstract Epstein–Barr virus (EBV), the first identified human oncovirus, is a ubiquitous γ‐herpesvirus etiologically linked to diverse malignancies, lymphoproliferative disorders, and autoimmune diseases. Experimental models are pivotal for unraveling the infection and pathogenesis mechanisms, life cycle regulation, as well as development and ...

Peptide‐directed nanovehicles enabling tumor‐selective ROS amplification and antitumor immunity
Cancer cells are vulnerable to oxidative stress, yet exploit immune tolerance to escape destruction. In contrast, their metabolic profile is markedly altered to support rapid proliferation, accompanied by elevated production of reactive oxygen species (ROS).

A peptide corresponding to the neuropilin-1-binding site on VEGF165 induces apoptosis of neuropilin-1-expressing breast tumour cells [PDF]
There is increasing evidence that vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) has autocrine as well as paracrine functions in tumour biology. Vascular endothelial growth factor-mediated cell survival signalling occurs via the classical tyrosine kinase receptors Flt-1, KDR/Flk-1 and the more novel neuropilin (NP) receptors, NP-1 and NP-2. A 24-mer peptide,

Multifaceted Role of Neuropilins in the Immune System: Potential Targets for Immunotherapy
Neuropilins (NRPs) are non-tyrosine kinase cell surface glycoproteins expressed in all vertebrates and widely conserved across species. The two isoforms, such as neuropilin-1 (NRP1) and neuropilin-2 (NRP2), mainly act as coreceptors for class III ...

Soluble St2 Induces Cardiac Fibroblast Activation and Collagen Synthesis via Neuropilin-1
Circulating levels of soluble interleukin 1 receptor-like 1 (sST2) are increased in heart failure and associated with poor outcome, likely because of the activation of inflammation and fibrosis.

Cancer pain: current practice and emerging targets
Cancer pain (CP) arises from a complex interplay between the tumour and its microenvironment. Many patients experience a mixed pain phenotype that encompasses nociceptive, neuropathic and neuroinflammatory mechanisms, and vary across tumour type and disease stage. Despite decades of intensive research, the mainstay of cancer pain treatment is still non‐
