Semaphorins and Their Receptors in Hematological Malignancies

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2019
While semaphorins were initially identified as axonal guidance cues for wiring the neural network, it was then recognized their wide relevance in tissue development and homeostasis.

Aptamer‐Based Delivery Systems for VEGF and NGF Modulation in Ocular Therapies

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 23, 19 June 2026.
Aptamer‐based delivery systems targeting NGF and VEGF hold significant potential for precise and sustained treatment of complex diseases affecting both the anterior and posterior segments of the eye. This review critically summarizes current strategies for NGF and VEGF delivery as well as VEGF sequestration, providing a clinical perspective on how ...

VEGF Binding to VEGFR2 In Vivo Is Inhibited by Targeting Neuropilin-1

open access: yes, 2013
(A–C) The time course of VEGF–VEGFR2 complex formation on the endothelial cells following each of the three treatments. For blocking VEGF–Neuropilin-1 binding (B) and VEGFR–Neuropilin-1 coupling (C), this figure represents bolus intratissue protein ...

VSMC phenotypic switching in thoracic aortic aneurysm at single‐cell resolution: Trajectories, regulatory circuits, and spatial niches

open access: yesClinical and Translational Discovery, Volume 6, Issue 3, June 2026.
•Single‐cell/spatial multi‐omics identify four VSMC phenotypic states in TAA progression. •KLF4 as master hub (TGF‐β/TNF‐α/mechanical stress) orchestrating chromatin remodelling. •Pseudotime trajectories mapping contractile phenotypes towards osteogenic (RUNX2/SOX9) and inflammatory (TNF‐α/IL‐6) fates within spatial medial niches. •cfDNA biomarkers and

DAMP Laden Extracellular Vesicles From the Airways of Patients With Severe SARS‐CoV‐2 Respiratory Infection Compromise Inflammation and Cellular Metabolism

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 15, Issue 6, June 2026.
Extracellular vesicles from severe COVID‐19 airways carry depleted miRNAs and elevated DAMPs, reprogramming monocytes toward senescence, impaired metabolism, and predominantly reduced cytokine responses. However, they drive excess IL‐8 production, amplifying neutrophil recruitment and dysfunctional inflammation across the respiratory tract.

PLXNA1 variants and oligogenicity in Kallmann syndrome: Expanding the semaphorin–neuropilin–plexin pathway

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Biotechnology and Experimental Therapeutics
A rare genetic condition, Kallmann syndrome (KS), causes congenital hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (CHH) and anosmia, resulting from impaired migration of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) neurons.

Thiazolidinediones enhance vascular endothelial growth factor expression and induce cell growth inhibition in non-small-cell lung cancer cells

open access: yesJournal of Experimental & Clinical Cancer Research, 2010
Background It is known that thiazolidinediones are involved in regulating the expression of various genes, including the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) gene via peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ); VEGF is a prognostic ...

From Theory to Practice: Which Biomarkers Are Ready for Predicting Response in Advanced HCC?

open access: yesLiver International, Volume 46, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Systemic therapies for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have expanded considerably with the advent of tyrosine kinase inhibitors, immune checkpoint inhibitors and immunotherapy–anti‐angiogenic combinations. However, despite this therapeutic diversification, first‐line treatment selection remains largely empirical, as few biomarkers are ...

Deletion of neuropilin 2 enhances detrusor contractility following bladder outlet obstruction.

open access: yes, 2017
Chronic urethral obstruction and the ensuing bladder wall remodeling can lead to diminished bladder smooth muscle (BSM) contractility and debilitating lower urinary tract symptoms.
