Neuroprotective actions of novel and potent ligands of group I and group II metabotropic glutamate receptors

open access: yes, 1999
The role of group I metabotropic glutamate (mGlu) receptors in neurodegeneration is controversial because of the contradictory effects of mGlu1/5 agonists in in vitro models of neuronal cell death.

Green Fuel Combustion Synthesis of CeO2 and Ag/CeO2 Nanoparticles for Photocatalytic and Antibacterial Applications

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Silver‐doped cerium oxide nanoparticles (Ag/CeO2 NPs) were synthesized using Ricinus communis seed extract as a bio‐derived fuel in a solution combustion method. The combustion reaction, carried out at 450°C with AgNO3 and (NH4)2[Ce (NO3)6] as metal precursors, produced CeO2 and Ag/CeO2 NPs.

Biomaterial design strategies for enhancing mitochondrial transplantation therapy

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Biomaterials to facilitate mitochondrial transplantation therapy: biomaterials as barriers to protect mitochondria from pathophysiological microenvironments, like osmotic stress caused by the excessive concentration of calcium ion, reactive oxygen species, and advanced glycation end products; biomaterials integrating with biochemical cues to improve ...

[Neuroprotective agents].

open access: yesNeurologia (Barcelona, Spain), 2000
In the last decade, a huge number of drugs have been developed in order to block the different molecular reactions of the ischemic cascade. Most of neuroprotective compounds decrease infarct volume in experimental stroke models, but none of them has reduced stroke mortality and morbidity in clinical trials.

Atomically precise metal cluster enzymes for pathological tissue regeneration

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of atomically precise metal cluster enzymes (MCEs) for pathological tissue regeneration. Atomically precise MCEs can modulate biological processes, such as attenuation of inflammatory responses, eradication of bacterial pathogens, regulation of angiogenesis, and promotion of cell development.

Global Trends and Advances in Traumatic Brain Injury

open access: yesBrain Health, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Traumatic brain injury (TBI) remains a major global public health challenge, contributing substantially to morbidity and mortality while imposing a significant socioeconomic burden. In recent years, notable progress has been made in understanding TBI pathophysiology, classification, monitoring, and treatment.

Discovery of novel N-(prop-2-yn-1-yl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalen-1-amine derivatives as MAO-B inhibitors for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease

open access: yesJournal of Enzyme Inhibition and Medicinal Chemistry
Monoamine oxidase B (MAO-B) inhibitors may be an effective therapeutic approach for Parkinson’s disease. This study designed and synthesised a series of N-(prop-2-yn-1-yl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalen-1-amine derivatives and evaluated their inhibitory ...

Size-controllable striatal lesion model for evaluation of neuroprotective agents in rats

open access: yes, 2013
ObjectivesVarious focal brain lesions are primarily caused by excessive glutamate release. An easy and convenient in vivo striatal lesion model was developed in which reliable and controllable lesion sizes were created by glutamate for evaluation of ...
