An Integrated Proteomic and Transcriptomic Analysis Reveals the Venom Complexity of the Bullet Ant Paraponera clavata

open access: yesToxins, 2020
A critical hurdle in ant venom proteomic investigations is the lack of databases to comprehensively and specifically identify the sequence and function of venom proteins and peptides.

Clostridium botulinum Type E Toxins Bind to Caco-2 Cells by a Different Mechanism from That of Type A Toxins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Cultured Clostridium botulinum strains produce progenitor toxins designated as 12S, 16S, and 19S toxins. The 12S toxin consists of a neurotoxin (NTX, 7S) and a non-toxic non-hemagglutinin (NTNH).

Amylase release from streptolysin O-permeabilized pancreatic acinar cells. Effects of Ca2+, guanosine 5'-[gamma-thio]triphosphate, cyclic AMP, tetanus toxin and botulinum A toxin [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
The molecular requirements for amylase release and the intracellular effects of botulinum A toxin and tetanus toxin on amylase release were investigated using rat pancreatic acinar cells permeabilized with streptolysin O.

Investigating the Cellular Effects of GALC Dosing in Enzyme Replacement Therapy for Krabbe Disease Supports the Role of Nanomedicine

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
A detailed workflow for recombinant GALC production and characterization is presented to support enzyme replacement therapy for Krabbe disease. In vitro assays demonstrate that physiological GALC doses restore enzymatic activity and autophagic flux without affecting cell viability, whereas higher doses impair autophagy and reduce viability.

Transducer Materials Mediated Deep Brain Stimulation in Neurological Disorders

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review discusses advanced transducer materials for improving deep brain stimulation (DBS) in neurological disorders. These materials respond to light, ultrasound, or magnetic fields, enabling precise, less invasive neuromodulation. Their stimulus‐responsive properties enhance neural control and adaptive therapy, paving the way for next‐generation ...
