Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

Suppression of NF-κB Activity: A Viral Immune Evasion Mechanism

open access: yesViruses, 2018
Nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) is an important transcription factor that induces the expression of antiviral genes and viral genes. NF-κB activation needs the activation of NF-κB upstream molecules, which include receptors, adaptor proteins, NF-κB (IκB ...

Dissecting the Crosstalk Between Nrf2 and NF-κB Response Pathways in Drug-Induced Toxicity

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2022
Nrf2 and NF-κB are important regulators of the response to oxidative stress and inflammation in the body. Previous pharmacological and genetic studies have confirmed crosstalk between the two.

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

The NF-κB Genomic Landscape in Lymphoblastoid B Cells

open access: yesCell Reports, 2014
The nuclear factor κB (NF-κΒ) subunits RelA, RelB, cRel, p50, and p52 are each critical for B cell development and function. To systematically characterize their responses to canonical and noncanonical NF-κB pathway activity, we performed chromatin ...

In Vivo Zonal Variation and Liver Cell-Type Specific NF-κB Localization after Chronic Adaptation to Ethanol and following Partial Hepatectomy. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
NF-κB is a major inflammatory response mediator in the liver, playing a key role in the pathogenesis of alcoholic liver injury. We investigated zonal as well as liver cell type-specific distribution of NF-κB activation across the liver acinus following ...

The Pivotal Role of NF-kB in the Pathogenesis and Therapeutics of Alzheimer’s Disease

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2022
Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) is the most common neurodegenerative disease worldwide, with a high prevalence that is expected to double every 20 years.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Comparison of activities of transcription factor NF-κB from two jellyfish models

open access: yesComparative Immunology Reports
Herein, transcription factor Nuclear Factor-kappaB (NF-κB) is characterized as the downstream effector of putative innate immune signaling pathways from two model jellyfish, Aurelia aurita (Aa) and Clytia hemisphaerica (Ch). Both jellyfish NF-κB proteins

Nucleo-cytoplasmic trafficking of TRIM8, a novel oncogene, is involved in positive regulation of TNF induced NF-κB pathway. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
TNF induced nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) is one of the central signaling pathways that plays a critical role in carcinogenesis and inflammatory diseases.
