Nuclear Factor kappa B (NF-κB) plays important roles in regulation of countless cellular functions, including cell cycle and apoptosis. As a versatile transcription factor, NF-κB is a target of a large amount of miRNAs. Abnormal NF-κB activity is frequently associated with an abnormal level of miRNAs, which is found to play critical roles in disease ...

Redox Regulation of NF-kappa B Activation
Free Radical Biology and Medicine, 1997Cytosolic reactions of the nuclear factor kappa B/inhibitor (NF-kappaB/IkappaB) complex leading to its activation, NF-kappaB translocation into the nucleus, DNA binding, and transactivation have been described with some degree of clarity, but the upstream processes that stimulate those cytosolic reactions remain obscure.

Immunity, 2005
NF-kappa B was discovered because of its binding to the Ig kappa locus intronic enhancer, but deletion of its binding site does not appear to affect V-to-J kappa rearrangement. New work by Verkoczy et al. in this issue of Immunity suggests that NF-kappa B regulates Ig kappa rearrangement after all, by activating RAG expression during receptor editing.

Rel/NF-kappa B transcription factors and cancer
International Journal of Oncology, 1997The transcription factors of the Rel/NF-kappa B family play a central role in immune regulation. In addition, they may be involved in the pathogenesis of certain tumors, especially those of hematopoietic origin. In this review evidence is summarized indicating an association between dysregulated NF-kappa B-dependent gene expression and tumorigenesis ...

NF-kappa B p65 transactivation domain is involved in the NF-kappa B-inducing kinase pathway.
Biochemical and biophysical research communications, 2003NF-kappa B-inducing kinase (NIK) is involved in the signal transduction pathway leading to the NF-kappa B activation. In this report, we demonstrate that the NIK-mediated NF-kappa B activation involves the transactivation (TA) domain of p65 subunit of NF-kappa B and the nuclear translocation of IKK alpha.

NF-kappa B is an important regulator of immunity and inflammation, and its activation pathway has been studied extensively. The mechanisms that downregulate the activity of NF-kappa B have also received a lot of attention, particularly since its activity needs to be terminated to prevent chronic inflammation and subsequent tissue damage.

NF-kappa B in allograft rejection.
Hepatobiliary & pancreatic diseases international : HBPD INT, 2004Nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-kappa B) as an essential transcription factor in the control of expression of the cytokine-induced genes in immune and inflammatory responses regulates cytokines in allograft rejection. In this review, we summarize the general properties of NF-kappa B and the principal findings to shed new light on transplantation.

[NF-kappa B and prostatic adenocarcinoma].
Zhonghua nan ke xue = National journal of andrology, 2007Nuclear factor of kappa B (NF-kappa B) is a multipolar nuclear transcription factor, and adjusts many gene expressions concerned with immunization, apoptosis, inflammation, neoplasia and metastasis. Recently, NF-kappa B has become a kind of hot spot in the studies of neoplasia, infiltration, metastasis and drug resistance.

The NF-kappa B transcription factor controls the expression of many genes, including genes regulating cell proliferation or survival and involved in oncogenesis. We showed that many breast cancers express high levels of the NF-kappa B inhibitor p100.

Activation of the transcription factor NF-kappaB has been linked to apoptosis, with the factor playing either an anti-apoptotic or a pro-apoptotic role, depending on the type of cell in which it is expressed.
