Extracellular Vesicles in Osteoarthritis: From Pathogenic Mediators to Engineered Therapeutics in a Precision Medicine Roadmap

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Biology, Volume 5, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Osteoarthritis (OA) remains without disease‐modifying sssstherapies, in part due to biological heterogeneity and a hostile joint microenvironment that undermines one‐size‐fits‐all interventions. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) play a dual role in OA pathophysiology: endogenous EVs disseminate pro‐inflammatory and catabolic signals that propagate ...

CD137 Regulates NFATc1 Expression in Mouse VSMCs through TRAF6/NF-κB p65 Signaling Pathway

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2015
Our previous study proved that CD137-CD137L interaction can regulate the expression of NFATc1. Here, we investigated whether CD137 signaling regulates the expression of NFATc1 in mice VSMCs through TRAF6/NF-κB p65 pathway.

Pim-selective inhibitor DHPCC-9 reveals Pim kinases as potent stimulators of cancer cell migration and invasion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
International audienceBACKGROUND Pim family kinases are small constitutively active serine/threonine-specific kinases, elevated levels of which have been detected in human hematopoietic malignancies as well as in solid tumours.

Egg yolk hydrolysate shows moderate impact on osteoporosis in ovariectomized rats

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 106, Issue 7, Page 4218-4227, May 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND This study investigated the protective effect of egg yolk hydrolysate (FC) on osteoporosis in ovariectomized (OVX) rats, a well‐established model of postmenopausal bone loss. OVX rats were fed diets supplemented with 0.2% or 1% FC for 13 weeks.

Transforming growth factor-β enables NFATc1 expression during osteoclastogenesis

open access: yesBiochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2008
Osteoclastogenesis is dependent on distinct stimuli that prime and activate osteoclast differentiation. One cytokine needed to prime monocytes for osteoclastogenesis is TGF-beta, which enables and augments RANKL and TNF-alpha-induced osteoclast differentiation.

The Transcription Factor NFATc1 Supports the Rejection of Heterotopic Heart Allografts

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2018
The immune suppressants cyclosporin A (CsA) and tacrolimus (FK506) are used worldwide in transplantation medicine to suppress graft rejection. Both CsA and FK506 inhibit the phosphatase calcineurin (CN) whose activity controls the immune receptor ...

Monovalent mannose‐glycoconjugates of sulforaphane reprogram human dendritic cells via NFATc1 to induce immune tolerance under inflammatory conditions

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 9, Page 1993-2008, May 2026.
Abstract Background and Purpose Immune tolerance prevents inflammation and autoimmunity, with dendritic cells (DCs) playing a key role. Reprogramming DCs towards a tolerogenic state represents a promising therapeutic strategy. Sulforaphane (SFN) has known immunomodulatory effects, but its clinical application is limited by poor stability and ...

Niche signals and transcription factors involved in tissue-resident macrophage development [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Tissue-resident macrophages form an essential part of the first line of defense in all tissues of the body. Next to their immunological role, they play an important role in maintaining tissue homeostasis. Recently, it was shown that they are primarily of
