Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide and the sirtuins caution: Pro‐cancer functions [PDF]

open access: yesAging Medicine, 2021
This scoping review aims to perform a brief but comprehensive assessment of existing peer‐reviewed literature and determine whether raising nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide can prevent or promote tumorigenesis. The examination of extensive peer‐reviewed

Measurement of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide & nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate in tomato leaves [PDF]

open access: greenPlant Physiology, 1962
As part of an investigation of the growth of tomato plants supplied with either nitrate or ammonium nitrogen (6), leaves were assayed for NAD4 and NADP. Anderson and Vennesland (1) assayed NAD and NADP in various green tissues and reported recoveries between 50 % and 85 % of NAD and NADP added to spinach leaf extracts.

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide is transported into mammalian mitochondria

open access: yeseLife, 2018
Mitochondrial NAD levels influence fuel selection, circadian rhythms, and cell survival under stress. It has alternately been argued that NAD in mammalian mitochondria arises from import of cytosolic nicotinamide (NAM), nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN),

Molecular properties and regulation of NAD+ kinase (NADK)

open access: yesRedox Biology, 2023
Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) kinase (NADK) phosphorylates NAD+, thereby producing nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP). Both NADK genes and the NADP(H)-producing mechanism are evolutionarily conserved among archaea, bacteria ...

Remote Limb Ischemic Postconditioning Protects Against Ischemic Stroke by Promoting Regulatory T Cells Thriving

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2021
Background Remote limb ischemic postconditioning (RLIPoC) has been demonstrated to protect against ischemic stroke. However, the underlying mechanisms of RLIPoC mediating cross‐organ protection remain to be fully elucidated.

Adenine Nucleotide and Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide Measurements in Plants [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Protocols in Plant Biology, 2020
AbstractAs the principal co‐factors of many metabolic pathways, the measurement of both adenine nucleotides and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide provides important information about cellular energy metabolism. However, given their rapid and reversible conversion as well as their relatively low concentration ranges, it is difficult to measure these ...

Niacin – a scoping review for Nordic Nutrition Recommendations 2023

open access: yesFood & Nutrition Research, 2023
Niacin is the precursor to pyridine nucleotides NAD (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) and NADP (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate). Niacin (vitamin B3) is the common term for nicotinic acid, nicotinamide and derivatives that exhibit the ...
