Efficacy and safety of a selective partial agonist for nociception/orphanin‐FQ peptide (NOP) receptors in patients with insomnia disorder

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aims Insomnia is a common sleep disorder, affecting up to 20% of the world population and adversely impacting productivity, health, and overall well‐being. Although pharmacologic options exist to treat insomnia, the health‐related quality of life for patients who are prescribed hypnotics is no higher than for those who are not, revealing a significant ...

Succinic Acid Production by Engineered Mannheimia succiniciproducens and Its Use in Chemoenzymatic Poly(Butylene Succinate) Synthesis

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
Succinic acid is produced by the fermentation of metabolically engineered Mannheimia succiniciproducens, purified, and used to synthesize poly(butylene succinate) using a two‐step process that involves the esterification of succinic acid and ethanol, followed by enzymatic transesterification of diethyl succinate and 1,4‐butanediol.

Nicotinic acid and DP1 blockade: studies in mouse models of atherosclerosis[S]

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2013
The use of nicotinic acid to treat dyslipidemia is limited by induction of a “flushing” response, mediated in part by the interaction of prostaglandin D2 (PGD2) with its G-protein coupled receptor, DP1 (Ptgdr).

EFFECT OF NICOTINIC ACID ON PLASMA AND BODY PROTEINS AND LIPIDS IN BROILERS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, 2002
Numerous attempts were made to reduce carcass fat in broilers by genetic, nutritional and pharmacological manipulation in the past years, so as to reduce the incidence of coronary heart disease in consumers of broiler meat. In this study an attempt was

Toxicity of Nicotinic Acid

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1938
SummaryNicotinic acid is at least several hundred times less toxic in mice, rats, and guinea pigs than nicotine. Nicotinic acid is devoid of action upon the autonomic ganglia. Nevertheless, repeated administration of large doses, 2 gm. daily, in dogs has resulted in poisoning and deaths.

Pyridine nucleotide synthesis by rat adipose tissue in vitro

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1967
The synthesis of NAD and NADP by rat adipose tissue was measured in vitro. Nicotinamide-7-14C and NaH232PO4 were incorporated together into NAD with a 32P/14C ratio of 1.82 and nicotinic-7-14C acid and NaH232PO4 with a ratio of 1.94.
