Carborane-Containing Liquid Crystals:  Synthesis and Structural, Conformational, Thermal, and Spectroscopic Characterization of Diheptyl and Diheptynyl Derivatives of p-Carboranes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Molecular and electronic structures for four p-carborane derivatives were studied in the context of their liquid crystalline properties. Thus molecular and crystal structures of diheptyl and diheptynyl derivatives of 10- and 12-vertex bi-p-carboranes ...

Synthesis and radioiodination of a nido-1,2-carboranyl derivative of 2-nitroimidazole [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
The synthesis of a nido-carboranyl congener of misonidazole, 1-(3′-nido-carboranyl-2′-hydroxy)propyl-2-nitroimidazole, has been carried out. Alternative methods of preparations were conducted to optimize the chemical yield, with a five step synthesis ...

N‐heterocyclic carbene‐based tetradentate Pt(II) phosphors for blue organic light‐emitting diodes: Molecular design, photophysics, and device performance

open access: yesBulletin of the Korean Chemical Society, Volume 47, Issue 5, Page 595-616, May 2026.
Structure‐oriented design of NHC‐based tetradentate Pt(II) complexes offers narrowband deep‐blue emission for OLEDs. This review highlights how steric shielding and electronic modulation regulate intermolecular interactions, excited‐state dynamics, and device performance, outlining design principles and outlines toward efficient and durable blue ...

Radioiodination of Two Carborane‐Based Dual Cyclooxygenase‐2/5‐Lipoxygenase Inhibitors and Their In Vitro and In Vivo Evaluation

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 7, 14 April 2026.
Two dicarbadodecaborane(12)‐based dual cyclooxygenase‐2/5‐lipoxygenase (COX‐2/5‐LO) inhibitors were 123I‐labeled. Refinement of labeling and formulation conditions and extensive in vitro characterization are presented. Cell uptake studies in COX‐2‐ and 5‐LO‐overexpressing cell lines showed COX‐2‐independent and partly 5‐LO‐dependent uptake.

Isomerisation of nido-[C2B10H12]2− dianions::Unprecedented rearrangements and new structural motifs in carborane cluster chemistry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Dianionic nido-[C2B10]2− species are key intermediates in the polyhedral expansion from 12- to 13-vertex carboranes and metallacarboranes, and the isomer adopted by these nidointermediates dictates the isomeric form of the 13-vertex product.

Astatine‐211—Towards In Vivo Stable Astatine‐211 Labeled Radiopharmaceuticals and Their (Pre)Clinical Applications

open access: yesMedicinal Research Reviews, Volume 46, Issue 1, Page 203-237, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Targeted radioligand therapy has emerged as a promising treatment option for eradicating advanced cancer forms. α‐Emitters are considered particularly promising as they can obliterate (micro)‐metastases. The α‐emitter astatine‐211 (211At) has experienced increased interest due to its favorable decay properties.

Luminescent nido-carborane-diphosphines [(PR2)2C2B9H10]‑1 (R = Ph, iPr). Modification of their luminescent properties upon formation of three-coordinate gold(I) complexes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The free nido-diphosphine anions [(PR2)2C2B9 H10]- R = Ph, iPr) show luminescence properties whereas the closodiphosphines [(PR2)2C2B10H10] do not. Four families of three-coordinate complexes of stoichiometry [Au- {(PR2)2C2B10H10}L]OTf (L = tertiary ...
