Nitroimidazole-induced chronic hepatitis
European Journal of Gastroenterology & Hepatology, 2001Drug-induced chronic hepatitis is a rare pathological condition. There is no reported case with chronic hepatitis secondary to nitroimidazole use. We report a patient who developed nitroimidazole-induced chronic hepatitis following acute exacerbation of hepatitis three times after nitroimidazole use.

Pharmacokinetics of Nitroimidazoles
1982In this paper I want to try and show how a knowledge of the metabolism and pharmacokinetics of a compound helps us to understand the reasons why it may or may not satisfy the criteria desired of a particular drug. How we want a drug to behave depends on the use we have in mind for it. For example, in Fig.

Nitroimidazoles as Anti-Tumor Agents
Anti-Cancer Agents in Medicinal Chemistry, 2011At present cancer treatment is still a confusing problem. Great progress has been made in anti-tumor agents since a series of small molecules are approved by FDA as anti-tumor drugs. Nitroimidazoles is a kind of radiosensitizer with multiple bioactivities used in cancer treatment since 1950s.

Antiparasitic Nitroimidazoles: 6. The Metabolism and Excretion of Some 2-Styryl-5-nitroimidazoles
Xenobiotica, 1973Abstract1. The metabolism and excretion of several 2-styryl-5-nitroimidazoles, which have shown interesting antiparasitic activity in laboratory animals, is described.2. Species differences have been observed in the formation of metabolites by oxidation of the alkyl group of the styryl nucleus.3.

The nitroimidazoles used in the treatment of anaerobic infection are well-tolerated by patients. With the possible exception of neurotoxic effects associated with high dosage, signs and symptoms of toxicity are transient and disappear soon after withdrawal of treatment.
