Determination of Nivalenol and Deoxynivalenol in Cereals by Electron-Capture Gas Chromatography

open access: yesJournal of AOAC INTERNATIONAL, 1986
Abstract Nivalenol (NIV) is an important Fusarium mycotoxin shown to occur naturally in grains from several countries. Extraction and cleanup procedures previously described for trichothecene analysis have been modified to give good recoveries of NIV from cereal products. The extraction solvent is methanol-water (7 + 3).

Pentahydroxyscirpene—Producing Strains, Formation In Planta, and Natural Occurrence

open access: yesToxins, 2016
Trichothecenes are a class of structurally diverse mycotoxins with more than 200 naturally occurring compounds. Previously, a new compound, pentahydroxyscirpene (PHS), was reported as a byproduct of a nivalenol producing Fusarium strain, IFA189.

Development of a generic PCR detection of deoxynivalenol- and nivalenol-chemotypes of Fusarium graminearum

open access: yes, 2005
Based on the intergenic sequences of Tri5¿Tri6 genes involved in the mycotoxin pathways of Fusarium species, a generic PCR assay was developed to detect a 300 bp fragment of deoxynivalenol (DON)-chemotypes and a 360 bp sequence of nivalenol (NIV ...

Deoxynivalenol and Nivalenol Toxicities in Cultured Cells: a Review of Comparative Studies

open access: yesFood Safety, 2018
The in vitro studies of the toxicities of trichothecene mycotoxins deoxynivalenol (DON) and nivalenol (NIV) including cell proliferation, cytokine secretion, and the involvement of heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90) in their toxicities were reviewed. Trichothecene mycotoxins are extremely toxic to leukocytes and leukopenia is one of the leading signs of ...
