We demonstrate that Cars2, a cysteine catabolic enzyme in mouse iBAT, is critical for cold tolerance and brown adipocyte differentiation. Through its CPERS activity, Cars2 produces CysSSH/H2S to induce EBF2 persulfidation, promoting its interaction with PPARγ and BRG1 to enhance thermogenic gene expression.

Nonesterified Fatty Acids and Hepatic Glucose Metabolism in the Conscious Dog [PDF]
We used tracer and arteriovenous difference techniques in conscious dogs to determine the effect of nonesterified fatty acids (NEFAs) on net hepatic glucose uptake (NHGU). The protocol included equilibration ([3-3H]glucose), basal, and two experimental periods (−120 to −30, −30 to 0, 0–120 [period 1], and 120–240 min [period 2], respectively).

Loss of KCNK16 in mice alters β‐cell insulin secretion dynamics leading to increased pancreatic insulin content and decreased circulating IGF‐1. Furthermore, body growth and adiposity were reduced independent of dietary interventions. Despite these changes, overall glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity remain largely preserved.
