Classification and environmental correlates of tidal wetland vegetation in Nova Scotia, Canada [PDF]

open access: yesBotany, 2015
We numerically classified tidal wetland vegetation and determined the relationships between variation in plant species composition and environmental factors. Sampling was conducted at eight sites along a range of tidal magnitudes (<2 to >14 m). Cluster analysis revealed seven distinct salt or brackish marsh plant associations, usually dominated ...

Spectroscopy of the enigmatic short-period cataclysmic variable IR Com in an extended low state

open access: yes, 2014
We report the occurrence of a deep low state in the eclipsing short-period cataclysmic variable IR Com, lasting more than two years. Spectroscopy obtained in this state shows the system as a detached white dwarf plus low-mass companion, indicating that ...

Legumain Restrains Granuloma Formation by Inhibiting mTORC1/STAT1‐Mediated M1 Macrophage Polarization in Sarcoidosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Legumain (LGMN) is upregulated in macrophages during sarcoid‑like granuloma formation. Macrophage‑derived LGMN binds to integrin αvβ3 and suppresses mTORC1/STAT1 signaling to restrain M1 macrophage polarization. Intratracheal delivery of lipid nanoparticles carrying Lgmn plasmid DNA (pDNA) elevates LGMN expression and effectively attenuates pulmonary ...

A Guide for Spatial Omics Technologies: Innovation, Evaluation, and Application

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review presents a strategy‐centric framework for spatial omics technologies, organizing methods by how spatial information is experimentally encoded. It compares key performance trade‐offs across sequencing‐ and imaging‐based approaches, examines computational and practical limitations, and highlights biomedical applications. The analysis provides

Pancancer Fine‐Mapping of Mutational Intolerance Identifies CHEK1 as an Immunosuppressive Driver in Lung Adenocarcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies mutation‐intolerant genes (MIGs), which are mutationally constrained in tumors despite normal‐tissue variability. Using miDriver, the authors pinpoint MIGs essential for tumor‐intrinsic fitness and immune evasion. Focusing on CHEK1, they show it drives tumor fitness and sculpts an immunosuppressive niche via the MIF–CD74 axis ...

The Wendelstein Calar Alto Pixellensing Project (WeCAPP): the M31 Nova catalogue

open access: yes, 2011
We present light curves from the novae detected in the long-term, M31 monitoring WeCAPP project. The goal of WeCAPP is to constrain the compact dark matter fraction of the M31 halo with microlensing observations. As a by product we have detected 91 novae

The Age‐Dependent Resident Myonuclear Multi‐Omic Response to an Acute Skeletal Muscle Hypertrophic Stimulus in Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Resident myonuclei are the molecular “control centers” for large multinuclear muscle fibers. It is presumed that, with aging, these control centers become compromised and contribute to delayed or blunted muscle adaptive potential. This study is a detailed roadmap that exposes how young versus aged myonuclei respond to a hypertrophic loading stimulus ...

Cryoablation Activates the cGAS–STING‐CXCL10 Axis in Macrophages to Enhance Anti‐Tumor Immunity in NSCLC

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tumor dsDNA released by cryoablation is taken up by macrophages, activating the cGAS‐STING signaling pathway. This leads to an expansion of the CXCL10+ macrophage pool and increased secretion of CXCL10, which in turn recruits CXCR3+ T cells from draining lymph nodes into the tumor microenvironment to exert anti‐tumor effects.
