Expression of the NPTII-sequence in cauliflower after injection of agrobacteria into seeds

Journal of Plant Physiology, 1992
Summary A simple procedure for gene transfer into cauliflower by macroinjection is described. Seeds of Brassica oleracea var. botrytis were injected with different Agrobacterium tumefaciens strains. The kanamycin-resistance coding NPTII region of engineered Ti-plasmid could be integrated into the plant genome. Expression as well as incorporation of

Safety Assessment of the Neomycin Phosphotransferase II (NPTII) Protein

Nature Biotechnology, 1993
Two approaches were used to assess the safety of the NPTII protein for human consumption using purified E. coli produced NPTII protein that was shown to be chemically and functionally equivalent to the NPTII protein produced in genetically engineered cotton seed, potato tubers and tomato fruit.
