Signal-mediated nuclear export pathways of proteins and RNAs
Although it has been known for several years that most nuclear-encoded RNAs and some patients can be exported from the nucleus to the cytoplasm, the molecular mechanisms of these transport processes have been poorly understood. Recently, signals that can induce the rapid and active nuclear export of macromolecules have been identified in the HIV-1 Rev ...

Mutant NPM1 in Acute Myeloid Leukemia Initiation and Maintenance
NPM1 mutations drive acute myeloid leukemia by acting as neomorphic transcriptional regulators that cooperate with Menin–MLL and XPO1 to sustain HOX/MEIS1 expression and block differentiation. Targeting these mutant‐specific transcriptional dependencies provides a rational therapeutic strategy for NPM1‐mutated AML.

Characterization of the Nucleocytoplasmic Transport Mechanisms of Epstein-Barr Virus BFLF2
Background/Aims: Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) BFLF2, the homologue of herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1) UL31, is crucial for the efficient viral DNA packaging and primary egress across the nuclear membrane.

β‐Catenin/c‐Myc Axis Modulates Autophagy Response to Different Ammonia Concentrations
Ammonia, detoxified by the liver into urea and glutamine, impacts autophagy differently at varying levels. Low ammonia activates autophagy via c‐Myc and β‐catenin, while high levels suppress it. Using Huh7 cells and Spf‐ash mice, c‐Myc's role in cytoprotective autophagy is revealed, offering insights into hyperammonemia and potential therapeutic ...

Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

Removing Oxide Layers and Retaining Oxide‐Free Steel Surfaces by Polishing in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere
In this study, the efficacy of wet mechanical polishing under an oxygen‐free atmosphere for deoxidation and the retention of an oxide‐free steel surface are elucidated using X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The methodology proved successful; however, the results were highly dependent on the preparation of the solvents used to clean the samples after ...

Design principles of nuclear receptor signaling: how complex networking improves signal transduction
The topology of nuclear receptor (NR) signaling is captured in a systems biological graphical notation. This enables us to identify a number of ‘design’ aspects of the topology of these networks that might appear unnecessarily complex or even ...

Properties of Two EBV Mta Nuclear Export Signal Sequences
The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) Mta protein is a posttranscriptional regulator of EBV lytic gene expression that affects RNA splicing and transport. Mta mediates cytoplasmic accumulation of unspliced EBV replication gene transcripts and shuttles between the nucleus and cytoplasm. Mta contains a recognized leucine-rich, putative nuclear export signal (NES)

Towards Defect Phase Diagrams: From Research Data Management to Automated Workflows
A research data management infrastructure is presented for the systematic integration of heterogeneous experimental and simulation data required for defect phase diagrams. The approach combines openBIS with a companion application for large‐object storage, automated metadata extraction, provenance tracking and federated data access, thereby supporting ...
