The escalating threat of emerging diseases, often stemming from contaminants and lethal pathogens, has precipitated a heightened demand for sophisticated diagnostic tools. Within this landscape, the functional nucleic acid (FNA) biosensor, harnessing the

Simplified Paper Format for Detecting HIV Drug Resistance in Clinical Specimens by Oligonucleotide Ligation. [PDF]
Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a chronic infection that can be managed by antiretroviral treatment (ART). However, periods of suboptimal viral suppression during lifelong ART can select for HIV drug resistant (DR) variants.

Effects of osmolytes and macromolecular crowders on stable GAAA tetraloops and their preference for a CG closing base pair [PDF]
Osmolytes and macromolecular crowders have the potential to influence the stability of secondary structure motifs and alter preferences for conserved nucleic acid sequences in vivo.

In our search for novel biocatalysts for the synthesis of nucleic acid derivatives, we found a good candidate in a putative dual-domain hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyltransferase (HGPRT)/adenylate kinase (AMPK) from Zobellia galactanivorans (ZgHGPRT ...

We introduce a nucleic acid nanoparticle (NANP) platform designed to be rrecognized by the human innate immune system in a regulated manner. By changing chemical composition while maintaining constant architectural parameters, we identify key determinants of immunorecognition enabling the rational design of NANPs with tunable immune activation profiles

Atomistic simulations of RNA duplex thermal denaturation: sequence- and forcefield-dependence
Double-stranded RNA is the end-product of template-based replication, and is also the functional state of some biological RNAs. Similarly to proteins and DNA, they can be denatured by temperature, with important physiological and technological ...

A bimetallic Mn–Ca nanoreactor (MCC) is developed as a non‐nucleotide STING nanoagonist for cancer metalloimmunotherapy. MCC induces Ca2+ overload and hydroxyl radical generation, resulting in mitochondrial damage and mtDNA release. The released mtDNA cooperates with Mn2+ to robustly activate cGAS–STING signaling.

Peptide nucleic acid (PNA) can form a stable duplex with DNA, and, accordingly, directly recognize double‐stranded DNA through the formation of a double‐duplex invasion complex, wherein a pair of complementary PNA strands form two PNA/DNA duplexes ...
