Encapsulation of a polymer by an icosahedral virus

open access: yes, 2010
The coat proteins of many viruses spontaneously form icosahedral capsids around nucleic acids or other polymers. Elucidating the role of the packaged polymer in capsid formation could promote biomedical efforts to block viral replication and enable use ...

Roles of Alp and Prt Regulons in the Response of Pseudomonas aeruginosa to UV‐C Light

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 1, February 2026.
Our results show that LexA‐regulated genes are the first to be induced after DNA damage, while autolysis functions controlled by the Alp system are the last. Death by UV is mediated primarily by Alp or Prt systems, depending on the Pseudomonas aeruginosa subline. ABSTRACT UV light is a well‐studied environmental DNA damaging agent.

Genetic Mosaics and Other Essays [PDF]

open access: yes, 1969
The first essay, "Mendel and Human Genetics," is a brief (26-page) account of the origins and development of the subject. Mendel's influence was indirect, but is rightly considered as of primary importance.

A Novel Crustavirus as a Candidate Aetiology of Tail Fan Necrosis in New Zealand Red Rock Lobsters, Jasus edwardsii

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, Volume 49, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Tail fan necrosis (TFN) is a shell disease affecting spiny lobsters' outer integument, with significant implications for the health and commercial viability of red rock lobsters (Jasus edwardsii) in New Zealand. Despite its impact, the potential role of a microbial agent in TFN remains poorly understood.

Structural disorder within paramyxoviral nucleoproteins

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 2015
In this review I summarize available data pointing to the abundance of structural disorder within the nucleoprotein (N) from three paramyxoviruses, namely the measles (MeV), Nipah (NiV) and Hendra (HeV) viruses. I provide a detailed description of the molecular mechanisms that govern the disorder‐to‐order transition that the intrinsically disordered C ...

Local Maintenance and Genomic Diversity of Lymphocytic Choriomeningitis Virus in Natural Populations of House Mice in the Czech Republic Over a 24‐Year Period

open access: yesZoonoses and Public Health, Volume 73, Issue 1, Page 107-112, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV) is a neglected rodent‐borne zoonotic virus primarily infecting house mice. The virus can be highly pathogenic, particularly in immunocompromised individuals and in congenital infections. LCMV is distributed worldwide but shows local clustering, probably due to the highly structured populations of its ...

DINAMICA SPECTRULUI FRACŢIILOR PROTEICE ALE MATERIALULUI SEMINAL UMAN SUB INFLUENŢA STRESĂRII HIPO-HIPERTERMICE

open access: yesStudia Universitatis Moldaviae: Stiinte reale si ale naturii, 2010
Since the specific capacity and tolerance of cells, including sperm proteins depend on their natural, it was necessary to study the protein fractions changes depending on the semen storage temperature.
