Genome encapsidation by orthobunyavirus nucleoproteins [PDF]
All negative-sense, single-stranded RNA (−ssRNA) viruses encode a nucleoprotein (NP), the major function of which is to bind viral RNAs and encapsidate them as ribonucleoprotein complexes (RNPs) (1, 2). Consequently, the genomes of −ssRNA viruses do not exist as naked RNA but rather as protein–RNA complexes with high-order structures. In PNAS, Li et al.

Lymphoid‐Tissue‐on‐Chip Recapitulates Human Antibody Responses In Vitro
The presented lymphoid‐tissue‐on‐chip system allows culture of primary human tonsil cells at organotypic high density under perfusion for up to 4 weeks, emulates immune response to soluble vaccines and vaccination via peripheral antigen‐presenting cells and represents a useful tool to assess cellular interactions during homeostasis, immune responses ...

NUCLEAR LOCALIZATION SIGNAL PEPTIDES (NLS) AND THEIR ROLE IN VIRAL PATHOGENICITY
The review provides data about nuclear localization signal peptides (NLS) and their function in the cell, incl. with a viral infection process. The binding, penetration, assembly, and budding of viruses are currently being intensively studied in many ...

The Nucleocapsid of Paramyxoviruses: Structure and Function of an Encapsidated Template
Viruses of the Paramyxoviridae family share a common and complex molecular machinery for transcribing and replicating their genomes. Their non-segmented, negative-strand RNA genome is encased in a tight homopolymer of viral nucleoproteins (N).

Ferritinophagy Rewires Carnitine‐Dependent Lipid Metabolism to Inhibit PRRSV and IAV Replication
NCOA4‐mediated ferritinophagy reprograms carnitine metabolism by disrupting Fe‐S cluster biogenesis, thereby establishing an iron‐lipid axis that suppresses various viruses, including PRRSV and IAV. However, viruses counteract this mechanism by degrading NCOA4.

Structural comparisons of the nucleoprotein from three negative strand RNA virus families
Structures of the nucleoprotein of three negative strand RNA virus families, borna disease virus, rhabdovirus and influenza A virus, are now available. Structural comparisons showed that the topology of the RNA binding region from the three proteins is ...

This graphical abstract illustrates the essential role of USB1 in neutrophil maturation. In normal myeloid cells, USB1 acts as an RNA exonuclease, trimming RNA tails to maintain proper RNA network function, which supports the differentiation of myeloid progenitor cells into mature neutrophils.
