An attempt to model the probability of growth and aflatoxin B1 production of Aspergillus flavus under non-isothermal conditions in pistachio nuts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Human exposure to aflatoxins in foods is of great concern. The aim of this work was to use predictive mycology as a strategy to mitigate the aflatoxin burden in pistachio nuts postharvest.

Exploring the relevance of the type of horizontal separator to optimize the extraction efficacy for the Arbequina variety

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
The productivity of virgin olive oil depends not only on agronomic factors but also on the technological factors of the extraction process. The ‘Arbequina’ variety has extractability problems, which is a challenge for master millers anywhere.

Nuts have no hair [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
We show that the Riemannian Kerr solutions are the only Riemannian, Ricci-flat and asymptotically flat ${\rm C}^{2}$-metrics $g_{\mu\nu}$ on a 4-dimensional complete manifold ${\cal M}$ of topology ${\rm R}^{2} \times {\rm S}^{2}$ which have (at least) a

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.
