Varicella-zoster virus IE4 protein interacts with SR proteins and exports mRNAs through the TAP/NXF1 pathway. [PDF]
Available data suggest that the Varicella-Zoster virus (VZV) IE4 protein acts as an important regulator on VZV and cellular genes expression and could exert its functions at post-transcriptional level.

Arginine methylation of REF/ALY promotes efficient handover of mRNA to TAP/NXF1 [PDF]
The REF/ALY mRNA export adaptor binds TAP/ NXF1 via an arginine-rich region, which overlaps with its RNA-binding domain. When TAP binds a REF:RNA complex, it triggers transfer of the RNA from REF to TAP.

Individual influenza A virus mRNAs show differential dependence on cellular NXF1/TAP for their nuclear export [PDF]
The influenza A virus RNA-dependent RNA polymerase produces capped and polyadenylated mRNAs in the nucleus of infected cells that resemble mature cellular mRNAs, but are made by very different mechanisms.

Non-structural protein 1 (Nsp1) is a virulence factor found in all beta coronaviruses (b-CoVs). Recent studies have shown that Nsp1 of SARS-CoV-2 virus interacts with the nuclear export receptor complex, which includes nuclear RNA export factor 1 (NXF1 ...

U2AF Participates in the Binding of TAP (NXF1) to mRNA [PDF]
TAP/NXF1 is a conserved mRNA export receptor serving as a link between messenger ribonucleoproteins (mRNPs) and the nuclear pore complex. The mechanism by which TAP recognizes its export substrate is unclear. We show here that TAP is added to spliced mRNP in human cells. We identified a distinct region of TAP that targets it to mRNP.

A natural allele of Nxf1 suppresses retrovirus insertional mutations [PDF]
Endogenous retroviruses have shaped the evolution of mammalian genomes. Host genes that control the effects of retrovirus insertions are therefore of great interest. The modifier-of-vibrator-1 locus (Mvb1) controls levels of correctly processed mRNA from genes mutated by endogenous retrovirus insertions into introns, including the Pitpn(vb) tremor ...

ICP27 Recruits Aly/REF but Not TAP/NXF1 to Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 Transcription Sites although TAP/NXF1 Is Required for ICP27 Export [PDF]
ABSTRACT Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) protein ICP27 interacts with the cellular export adaptor protein Aly/REF, which is part of the exon junction complex implicated in cellular mRNA export. We previously reported that Aly/REF was no longer associated with splicing factor SC35 sites during infection but instead colocalized with ICP27 ...

Summary: Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs) play critical roles in the nuclear export, splicing, and sensing of RNA. However, the role of heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A/B (hnRNPAB) is poorly understood.

Mapping interactions between mRNA export factors in living cells. [PDF]
The TREX complex couples nuclear mRNA processing events with subsequent export to the cytoplasm. TREX also acts as a binding platform for the mRNA export receptor Nxf1.
