Navite: A Neural Network System For Sensory-Based Robot Navigation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
A neural network system, NAVITE, for incremental trajectory generation and obstacle avoidance is presented. Unlike other approaches, the system is effective in unstructured environments.

Obstacle Avoidance Problem for Second Degree Nonholonomic Systems

open access: yes, 2018
In this paper, we propose a new control design scheme for solving the obstacle avoidance problem for nonlinear driftless control-affine systems. The class of systems under consideration satisfies controllability conditions with iterated Lie brackets up ...

Diffusion, subdiffusion, and trapping of active particles in heterogeneous media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We study the transport properties of a system of active particles moving at constant speed in an heterogeneous two-dimensional space. The spatial heterogeneity is modeled by a random distribution of obstacles, which the active particles avoid.

Electrifying Obstacle Avoidance: Enhancing Teleoperation of Robots with EMS-Assisted Obstacle Avoidance

open access: yes, 2023
We investigate how the use of haptic feedback through electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) can improve collision-avoidance in a robot teleoperation scenario. Background: Collision-free robot teleoperation requires extensive situation awareness by the operator.

Enhancing Optoelectronic Properties in Phthalocyanine‐Based SURMOFs: Synthesis of ABAB Linkers by Avoiding Statistical Condensation with Tailored Building Blocks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel phthalocyanine (PC)‐based metal–organic framework (MOFs) is synthesized using ditopic PC linkers obtained through regioselective statistical condensation. The resulting MOF exhibits significant improvements in electronic absorption, thereby enhancing the material's performance in light harvesting and energy conversion.

Monocular visual obstacle avoidance method for autonomous vehicles based on YOLOv5 in multi lane scenes

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal
This study explores a more effective obstacle avoidance method for autonomous driving based on the monocular vision system of YOLOv5. The study utilizes the YOLOv5 model to detect obstacles and road signs in the environment in real-time, including ...

Obstacle Avoidance by Means of an Operant Conditioning Model [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
This paper describes the application of a model of operant conditioning to the problem of obstacle avoidance with a wheeled mobile robot. The main characteristic of the applied model is that the robot learns to avoid obstacles through a learning-by-doing

Selective and Precise Editing of Digital Polymers Through Parallel or Series Toehold‐Mediated Strand Displacement

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A sequence‐encoded supramolecular construct containing two accessible toeholds is developed herein for enabling multiple editing operations. By introducing specific input strands, it is possible to selectively erase or rewrite digital content through parallel or series toehold‐mediated strand displacement (PTMSD or STMSD).

Covalent Organic Frameworks for Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction: Metal Integration Principles, Strategies and Functions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with metals have been recognized as versatile platforms for photocatalytic CO2 reduction (CO2PRR). Herein, an overview of metal integration strategies for COFs is systematically summarized. Regulatory mechanisms and structure–activity relationships between metal integration and COF‐based CO2PRR are emphasized.

2D Magnetic and Topological Quantum Materials and Devices for Ultralow Power Spintronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
2D magnets and topological quantum materials enable ultralow‐power spintronics by combining robust magnetic order with symmetry‐protected, Berry‐curvature‐driven transport. Fundamentals of 2D anisotropy and spin‐orbit‐coupling induced band inversion are linked to scalable growth and vdW stacking.
