Influence of physiological factors on growth, sporulation and ochratoxin A/B production of the new Aspergillus ochraceus grouping [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Recently, new species within the Aspergillus section Circumdati group responsible for ochratoxin production were reported. This study has examined the impact of interactions between water activity (aw, 0.99-0.90), temperature (20-35 °C) on growth ...

Teratogenicity of Ochratoxin A and the Degradation Product, Ochratoxin α, in the Zebrafish (Danio rerio) Embryo Model of Vertebrate Development

open access: yesToxins, 2016
Ochratoxins, and particularly ochratoxin A (OTA), are toxic fungal-derived contaminants of food and other agricultural products. Growing evidence supports the degradation of OTA by chemical, enzymatic and/or microbial means as a potential approach to ...

Wavelength-Dependent Degradation of Ochratoxin and Citrinin by Light in Vitro and in Vivo and Its Implications on Penicillium

open access: yesToxins, 2012
It has previously been shown that the biosynthesis of the mycotoxins ochratoxin A and B and of citrinin by Penicillium is regulated by light. However, not only the biosynthesis of these mycotoxins, but also the molecules themselves are strongly affected ...

THE PHARMACOKINETICS OF OCHRATOXIN A IN RATS

open access: yesJapanese Journal of Pharmacology, 1977
The absorption and tissue distribution of ochratoxin A (OCT A) following a single oral dose of OCT A were investigated in adult, male Wistar rats. In experiments concerning excretory patterns of OCT A, 14C-OCT A was used. A relatively large amount of OCT A was found in the circulating blood 48 hours after dosing.

Determination of ochratoxin A in coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.) by HPCL/fluorescence detection

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2006
An analytical study based on extraction with acetonitrile-water, immunoaffinity column cleanup, and HPLC/fluorescence detection for separation and identification of ochratoxin A in coriander was carried out. Validation of the applied methodology was done

Detection and discrimination between ochratoxin producer and non-producer strains of Penicillium nordicum on a ham-based medium using an electronic nose [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The aim of this work was to evaluate the potential use of qualitative volatile patterns produced by Penicillium nordicum to discriminate between ochratoxin A (OTA) producers and non-producer strains on a ham-based medium.

Response to Comments of Peter G. Mantle. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The apparently high yield of testis tumors (25%) in rats exposed long-term to Ochratoxin A (OTA) is uninterpretable without data on tumor yield in unexposed rats.

Immunomagentic microbeads for screening with flow cytometry and identification with nano-liquid chromatography mass spectrometry of ochratoxins in wheat and cereal [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Multi-analyte binding assays for rapid screening of food contaminants require mass spectrometric identification of compound(s) in suspect samples.

Monitoring of mycotoxins and pesticides in winemaking [PDF]

open access: yesCiência e Técnica Vitivinícola, 2023
This study monitored concentrations of both pesticides 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) and procymidone, and mycotoxin ochratoxin A (OTA) in stages of the winemaking process. Sampling was carried out in the usual vinification process of red wine in

Aspergillus westerdijkiae polyketide synthase gene “aoks1” is involved in the biosynthesis of ochratoxin A [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
OchratoxinA (OTA) is a potential nephrotoxic, teratogenic, immunogenic, hepatotoxic and carcinogenic mycotoxin, produced by Aspergillus westerdijkiae NRRL 3174.
