Oenothein B, a dimeric, hydrolysable tannin with macrocyclic structure, and accompanying tannins from Oenothera erythrosepala

Journal of the Chemical Society, Perkin Transactions 1, 1990
A new dimeric, hydrolysable tannin which we have named oenothein B (1), and eight accompanying compounds, including oenothein C (2), were isolated from the leaves of Oenothera erythrosepala. The macrocyclic structure of compound (1) was established from chemical and spectroscopic data.

Investigation on the inactivation of trypsin by oenothein B: isothermal titration calorimetry and docking studies

International Journal of Food Science & Technology, 2019
SummaryThe aim of this study was to investigate the inhibitory mechanism of oenothein B (OeB), a unique oligomer ellagitannin with a rigid structure, on porcine trypsin using fluorescence spectroscopy, isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC), circular dichroism (CD) and molecular docking.

A Macrocircular Ellagitannin, Oenothein B, Suppresses Mouse Mammary Tumor Gene Expression via Inhibition of Poly(ADP-ribose) Glycohydrolase

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1995
Oenothein B, a macrocircular dimeric ellagitannin, was found to be a potent and specific inhibitor of poly(ADP-ribose) glycohydrolase. Oenothein B suppressed glucocorticoid-sensitive mouse mammary tumor virus (MMTV) transcription in 34I cells. This suppression was accompanied by inhibition of glucocorticoid-induced endogeneous de-poly(ADP-ribosyl)ation

Oenothein B from Eugenia uniflora leaves exerts pro-angiogenic effects by increasing VEGF and TNF-α levels

Cytokine
Oenothein B (OeB), a dimeric ellagitannin with a macrocyclic structure, is reported to have beneficial effects, including antioxidant, antitumor, antiviral, and antimutagenic effects, on human health. Despite the remarkable properties of OeB, its role in neovascularization process has not yet been evaluated.

Determination of Oenothein B as the Active 5-α-Reductase-Inhibiting Principle of the Folk Medicine Epilobium parviflorum

Journal of Natural Products, 1996
Several extracts from Epilobium parviflorum, a plant used in Central Europe for the treatment of prostate disorders, were evaluated in a biochemical assay with 5-alpha-reductase. The aqueous extract displaying inhibition of the enzyme was analyzed, the fraction responsible for this activity was purified, and the active compound identified as a ...
