Impact of Astaxanthin Concentration in Extender on Sperm Kinetics and Lipid Peroxidation After Cryopreservation in Beef Bulls

open access: yesReproduction in Domestic Animals, Volume 61, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Cellular damage caused by changes in temperature and osmolarity during cryopreservation primarily results in excessive generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). These damages compromise the plasma membrane and reduce sperm fertility. Antioxidants help mitigate these effects.

PERSPECTIVE: organelle positioning as a principle of metabolic regulation and stress tolerance

open access: yesThe Plant Journal, Volume 126, Issue 6, June 2026.
SUMMARY Plants have evolved elaborate acclimation strategies to withstand adverse environments, involving all levels of their function and organization. While macroscopic movements through differential growth that enable the physical re‐shaping and ‐positioning of organs have been a major field of study, the highly active dynamics of cell organelles ...

Fingerprints Encode Risk for Bipolarity

open access: yesBipolar Disorders, Volume 28, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Fingerprint patterns are developed during pregnancy and share a common embryogenic origin with the central nervous system. Considering the observed relationship between prenatal abnormalities and higher risk for schizophrenia, we previously built fingerprint‐based algorithms achieving validation accuracies up to 70% in a large ...

Membrane Vesicles from Lacticaseibacillus Casei BL23 Exhibit Antimicrobial Activity Against Escherichia coli and Immunostimulatory Effects on Human Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 16, 24 April 2026.
Membrane vesicles derived from the probiotic Lacticaseibacillus casei BL23 demonstrate antimicrobial properties against Escherichia coli and a potential biological effect in improving the overall survival of C. elegans infected with Pseudomonas aeruginosa. These vesicles stimulated immune responses in primary cells without causing toxicity. Our results
