Genetic diversity analysis of high oleic inbred lines in sunflower (Helianthus annuus)

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Plant Breeding, 2019
Sunflower hybrids with high oleic acid content have nutritional benefits similar to olive oil. High oleic sunflower hybrids can be obtained by using genetically divergent high oleic parental lines in heterosis breeding.

State‐of‐the‐Art, Insights, and Perspectives for MOFs‐Nanocomposites and MOF‐Derived (Nano)Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Different approaches to MOF‐NP composite formation, such as ship‐in‐a‐bottle, bottle‐around‐the‐ship and in situ one‐step synthesis, are used. Owing to synergistic effects, the advantageous features of the components of the composites are beneficially combined, and their individual drawbacks are mitigated.

Research Note: Behavioral preference and conditioned taste aversion to oleic acid solution in chickens

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2021
A functional fatty acid taste receptor, GPR120, is present in chicken oral tissues, and chickens show a preference for lipid in feed. However, it remains unclear whether chickens can detect fatty acids.

Unravelling the surface chemistry of metal oxide nanocrystals, the role of acids and bases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We synthesized HfO2 nanocrystals from HfCl4 using a surfactant-free solvothermal process in benzyl alcohol and found that the resulting nanocrystals could be transferred to nonpolar media using a mixture of carboxylic acids and amines.

Upconversion Nanoparticle‐Covalent Organic Framework Core–shell Particles as Therapeutic Microrobots Trackable With Optoacoustic Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Upconversion nanoparticle‐covalent organic framework core–shell particles provide enhanced contrast for optoacoustic imaging by leveraging the optical absorption of upconversion luminescence within the covalent organic framework matrix. Beyond their role as contrast agents, these particles enable customizable therapeutic agent loading and release, as ...

Intrinsically‐Stretchable and Patternable Quantum Dot Color Conversion Layers for Stretchable Displays in Robotic Skin and Wearable Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Intrinsically‐stretchable, heavy‐metal‐free quantum dot color conversion layers are produced via a versatile crosslinking strategy. The color conversion layers exhibit minimal backlight leakage under mechanical strain, support high‐resolution patterning, and integrate seamlessly with micro‐light‐emitting diodes. Their incorporation in haptic‐responsive

Impact of oleic acid (cis-9-octadecenoic acid) on bacterial viability and biofilm production in Staphylococcus aureus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Staphylococcus aureus is responsible for a broad variety of chronic infections. Most S. aureus clinical isolates show the capacity to adhere to abiotic surfaces and to develop biofilms. Because S.

Sterol content in sunflower seeds (Helianthus annuus L.) as affected by genotypes and environmental conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Phytosterols play essential roles in many plant cell mechanisms. They are of industrial interest since, as part of the diet, they can reduce Low Density Lipoprotein cholesterol.
